These are two signs that I inherent from my grandfathers estate from a couple of years ago.
The two signs are from the mid forties, lettered on sheet metal (20" x 24"). The business was formed in the twenties and after relocating a couple of times the company became Carney and Sons which ran to the early eighties when my father passed away.
Can you tell the difference between the two signs? I find it interesting how he (the sign painter) laid out the sign.

The only difference I see is the second GEORGETOWN is shifted to the right and he started squishing the letters to make it fit. A commom happening in hand lettered signs back then.
Now I see it, I'll keep quiet so others can check.

I see two more differences in the two signs. The signpainter left an "I" out of Refrigeration on the first sign and curved the tail of the "R" in Contractor on the second sign. Unique layout tho! Judy
