That looks way fun ... assuming the hill your going down doesn't have that many trees. Does somebody make you dress like that to do this?
If it makes it into double digit temps this weekend I plan on doing some sledding my self. Have friends in from California who's kids have never gone sledding or built snowmen ... I got some slick new sleds and it's too frickin cold to be outside.

Yeah Baby! Did you play in the snow or in the river? I was on the Bear River in Idaho many moons ago kayaking the rapids in a blizzard. I was having a great time until I got flipped over. Lets just say swimming in a river in a blizzard is a cold thing...

I'm headed out to see Warren Miller's new movie Journey It is full of great snowboarding & skiing footage, & there is often a scene or 2 with some "goofball" showing up with a kayak to charge down some ungodly chute in the Alaskan Valdez mountains completely out of control... always good for a laugh between the ooohs & ahhhs!

I'm glad to see you are at least wearing the correct gear. I used to whitewater kyak, but only attempted it when the snow was gone!
Even with a wetsuit I don't care for water with ice in it!

DOH!, the single digit temps. must be getting to my brain. When I saw the picture it never even occured to me to put the kyak into icy water. Way fun quickly turns into no f'n way. Unless there's a shot of scotch or tea in it I want nothing to do with icy water. bbrrrrr

Marty, we sometimes do the otter entry and slide down a hill into the river but on this day we were just putting in the river for a winter paddle. This paddle was down the New Boston section of the Farmington river in New Boston, Ma. It is a class 3 and 4 river with some small 4 foot drops and some nice sets of rapids. After this we did the Sandy Brook in Northern Ct which is a class 4+ run in which there is not much room for era. I went upsidedown twice on the Sandy and thank goodness I rolled right back up with no battle scars. If you look close in the picture I'm the only one who wears a full face helmet with a cage......Grab your boats boys and girls it's only 2 below today.

Rob, you do know that white stuff on the ground is snow, right? That's frozen water, understand? It's winter, go home and build a fire. Temperature near zero? You've got to be kidding! I'm sitting here in 39 degrees thinking my nose is gonna freeze off and you're going kayaking?! Willingly?!
