My .02 worth...If you have the means cut them yourselve in dark yellow plastic,cover the faces in gold vinyl and glue to a black background,cut a wee bit bigger.

Did you call Gemini and ask for other solutions? Rather than custom cast letters, you could get them laser-cut or router cut from 3/4 black acryllic. (They'd paint the face gold before cutting, that way you get the gold face and black edges). i'm guessing that's less expensive than custom cast or custom formed letters.
I think the cheapest way to do them is to apply gold vinyl to a sheet of Dibond and cut the letters using a router. the Dibond has black edges. it wouldn't look as nice as the thicker options, but maybe if you mounted them 3/4" above the monument surface it might work. (at least for a few seasons - its not as vandal proof as the other options. one kid with a bb gun or a few rocks could shorten the lifespan).

Hiya Penny, I would go with Gemini, like Scooter said. The problem with going with the local guy is experience. How much does he have? I know Gemini will not do stud mounts on anything thinner than 1/4". The metal will probably warp when the studs are mounted, or worse, it will bend when you're installing it.

The guy's really good. I've seen several things he's done. He doesn't have experience with these particular fasteners, though. He did say he'd need to weld them on before the powder coat went on.
Tell me about the fasteners. What do I ask for? How big are they? How do you put them into the brick? I'm assuming drill then fill the hole with adhesive.
