What options are there, for using a cutter/plotter within Mac OS X? While I am familiar with Summa, none of their drivers work with OS X (booting in OS 9 or using "Classic" is not an option, as far as I'm concerned). I had no luck looking over Roland's current offerings, as well.
CoCut only works in Classic mode, so that's out. MagiSign only works with Illustrator, so that's out (I prefer CorelDRAW or Freehand).
Currently shipping Macs cannot boot into OS 9. Where are the OS X drivers?

If you were using OSX and Illustrator 10, Graphtec would have an answer for you...and it's included free with every cutter shipped. Called: "Cutting Master".

I was in the same boat as you. Not willing to step down, or back. I use Illustrator 10 in OsX and I had a heck of a time finding a system that would work. Its strange that so few companies have stepped up to the plate OsX is about the best a person could ask for in an OS. I guess a solid 100 % of a 10% market share doesn't matter to most CAS software developers? Anyhow Howard is so right about Graphtec's products. After talking to Him and his counterparts at his competition (I asked all the big players in the field), I plopped down the money and I've been very happy with what I got. Now I did have a bit of trouble chasing down the freshest version but Howard straightened It all out and I have had nothing but smiles about it since. Stick to your guns, get yourself a Graphtec. It's a tank and It comes with the software you need for free. And it comes with Howard's help, That is worth quite a bit itself. If you have questions, feel free to give me a call (916)802-5896 Good Luck!

As an owner of a Graphtec FC5100 I'll vouch for Howard's info on Cutting Master. It works well.
If you own a Gerber plotter there's MacImprint which is also an Illustrator plug in.
Both run on USB, The Graphtec plugs in directly and my old GSXplus uses a Keyspan USB to serial converter.

MagiSIgn for X is available from this morning. It runs all the major brand of plotters. So you have the choice in terms of plotters if you use Adobe Illustrator to create your artwork on OS X
I keep at your disposal for any furrther info

Philippe JACQUES I have Magisign for the OS 9.02... Do I need to upgrade to a version that runs in OSX? I have not upgraded to OSX yet but am planning to do so in the near future. To everyone else...The software works great from within Illustrator 9.0 or 10.0. I do not have Illustrator CS yet so I am not sure of compatibility at this time.
