A friend of mine has a problem with the dongle for Flexi-sign he has tried to get a new one but has been told they no longer support the version he has, however they will supply a new one with an upgrade which is costing my friend more than he can afford as he has now semi-retired and so as a compromise they sold him a program called Finecut which is bundled with a Mimaki plotter but here comes the rub he has Corel 7 and this verion only works with Corel 9 or 10 any one out there have or know of an earlier version?

Don,

Has your friend considered upgrading to Corel 9 or 10. I realize this means more expense, however if you look on an Auction Board like E-bay they are realative cheap.

Rob's right, just getting Corel 9 or 10 is not very costly even at Corel's upgrade prices.

I don't understand the question, what good is an earlier version in all this?

Just for the record

Cocut is not a bridge program.. It is a plugin that works within corel, illustrator, and freehand..

You make a design, click a button and the cut dialog comes up. You don't send it to,, or import it to,, or any other forplay. You never leave corel or the design program.. Its great.

Doug... an earlier version was a thought that someone might share the prog. and as he has paid for a later version would not be piracy.

Have you tried contacting your insurance company? Maybe there was a power surge, electrically storm, something that would have caused the dongle not to work.

Guess what - VMP now has a STUPID DONGLE ALSO!

I really do like the program, but just got a pop-up mesage telling me I have to upgrade soon or be de-registered.

I thought I finally found an HONEST software company, and then they go and do this.

For the record, I've used Gerber Graphix Advantage (HATE IT), FlexiSign(Crashes OFTEN), SignLab (Nice, but also requires FREQUENT updates for buggy software) and Corel4,6,7,8 (which I despise trying to use with a plotter)

VinylMaster Pro USED to be a nice program that does what all the others do, isn't ridiculously priced and didn't USED to have a STUPID DONGLE!!

Whew!

Thanks for letting me vent.

I'm finally free of the frigging dongles. I had a similar problem with my CoCut one, so I took other's advice on this board and learned to cut straight from Corel. Easier than you think.

Corel draw 9 is available for around 35 bux..

If I understand you right. Vinyl Master Pro is demanding you upgrade? or face losing the use of your copy? WOW.. That may really **** of a whole lot of users.

That may be a mistake because the DMA exemption may apply to this. It's to protect you from a program that is no longer supported, or you are locked out, or some other reason and you can no longer use a legal copy of your program. OF course im not legal man.

iam another corel CUTTER. have been since 93 with corel 3 and 4!!!! 5 and 6 where the only corels UNABLE TO CUT TO PLOT. corel leased their plotter driver to COCUT/EUROCUT for their 1st 2 yrs of production and didnt include it in 5 or 6 as a non compete agrement. cocut/eurocuts claim to fame.....as they would tell you at trade shows was "and it works seamlessly inside corel draw."
well it should it is CORELS code. when corel 7 came out it was a 'full featured" version and it had the cut/plot code back in it and they uped the workspace from 30 INCHES X 30 INCHES to 150 FEET X 150 FEET. also corel 7 is the last version of a "true corel program." with version 8 corel went to this small company and sold them a bill of goods on how they would make their little company big and sell their product thur corel. yea they did this, for 2 ys and in that 2 years they took a lot of the code and functions from XARA program, you can see their stuff at http://www.xara.com/ now that corel dont need them anymore. all corels from 8 up contain mostly XARA add ons.
i got corel on my desktop and i cut from it also have same version on my laptop in the mobile shop and cut from it. there is very little you cant do in corel tha you can do in any "dongled" sign program.

Hi Bruce

Just so you know the Dongle for VinylMaster Pro is an option... the time-out you're referring to is easily overcome by downloading a free update from www.future-1.com and is unrelated to the dongle option...

Thanks,
