It looks like this is gonna end up being just a practice piece, but this is an image I originally drew by hand a couple years back, and then I scanned into the computer. Recently the guy I drew it for expressed interest in having it painted, so I did this as a test piece of sorts. All digital, done on my wacom cintiq 21 UX.
First time taking a portrait "All the Way" digitally. This isn't "done" obviously, but you get the point.

This obviously isn't your first goat ropeing. Looking good, you must be able to draw before you can paint and must be able to paint in order to paint well digitally.

Looks like it's coming along really well Barry. Please make sure you post the finished piece.

Barry - this is FANTASTIC.... you've got amazing talents.
Question: as good as your 'dude' looks... just wondering if it would take it to even another level by adding an overlay of a somewhat distinct, 'skin pore' layer - - on top of the skin in his face. Then erase it from around the eyes, mouth, etc with a soft-edge brush..... just to help bring the face into a little crisper focus....
Not that it really needs it, but you know us artist types - always envisioning the next level while enjoying the view. :-)
