I know I've been absent for a while, not much happening in my life these days.
I recently reacquainted myself to a childhood hobby, model cars.
For fun I challenged a member of one of the forums to a build off in mid December, the deadline was today and the subject was cartoon cars.
I built one of my favorite race cars, a winged 410 sprint car almost completely from scratch. I used styrene sheets, rods and tubes to create it. Other than the driver figure which is from a 1/12scale RC car, there are only parts of 4 pieces from a model kit. They are parts from a 300 sel Gullwing Mercedes and I defy anybody to find and identify them.
It took over 500 pieces to make this model.
I had a hard time making a spinner small enough for the gold that wouldn't wander, I sure could have done a better job on the turning. Oh well.

That looks like fun! I like the paint job and engine turned gold. Very detailed - it looks like it's in action.

Job well done! I used to build all kinds of models. If I would have created this, I'd be real proud! Awesome!
Ok, so here's my guess on the Mercedes parts from a kit: Shock absorbers??

Nope, not the shocks, I'll give you a hint, the parts are the focal point of one of the pics.
Thanks for the compliments everyone.

Rotor and brake caliper?? Geez, this isn't EZ!

Nope, they are made from sheet stock and tubing, you are getting closer. I'll give you one more guess, than I'll reveal it.
Here's another one I built.
This one's called Nader's Nightmare.
Scratchbuilt frame, suspension, headers aircleaners and lots more.

You guessed it, it's the center section of the quick change. I used two wheels and pieces of two mufflers to make it.
