Ok - completely tweaked/reworked the plumbing logo I posted a few days back... went for a different look altogether.... whatcha' think?

Looks good Todd. The colors are a bit subdued for my taste but this would work well in almost any color scheme.

Hi Dan - yeah, the large amount of 'beige' is kinda bugging me.... and not sure I like the fade at the bottom of 'Clark's.... any color suggestions that might make it pop more?
I'll have to tweak it around a bit....thanks.

One thing I would be concerned with is losing the detail in the hand and the wrench if it gets scaled down too much (like on a website). Just a thought, but is the hand really necessary? I wonder what it would look like if the jaws of the wrench were larger with less of the handle showing.

I like it, but my first impression is of a car emblem, which leads me to thinking of a mechanic with a crescent wrench. There is a large polulation of this world that wouldn't know one tool from the other.....

I like the layout / design looks modern and interesting... the pipe wrench is a common plumbers tool so would know what they did right away, if that was huge some where and no words

Here's my 2 cents. Looks good in general, all the elements are there but consider those few changes if you agree...
Top to bottom, the hand in the logo has life like colors but the wrench is a solid red color wich makes it look too much like 2 cliparts plugged together. I would either make the 2 look life like or "clip-arty"
The decorative elements on both sides of the circle look like they're supposed to be chrome so therefore shouldn't be a mirror copy of each other, the light in the chrome should be different if they are to remain chrome or mirror images if they are just graphic elements.
The word 'PLUMBING' is closer to the bottom border than to the title it is related to and should just be moved up a bit.
Same with "RESIDENTIAL", wich is closer to the edges than to the other word it is meant to be related to.
Ouff... and lastly, the diamond shaped element could perhaps be more related to the actual trade like a pipe section or nut or something like that...
I really think you have something there, a few minor adjustments and you should be home free....

Russ - I think you're right regarding the size of the hand/wrench. I will be screen printing shirts with this image - so size of these items could certainly become an issue. I'll see what I can do to enlarge it per your suggestion.
Kelly - most plumbers/ trade people and probably 95% of all men would associate a 'pipe wrench' with a plumber. It's kind of an iconic image for that trade, and I think that a plumber would want something like this for their own sake if nothing else; but I can appreciate your perspective, and it makes sense, but I think that one will have to stay.
Terry - I'll take another look at the Chrome accents - Rene mentioned something about that too.
Rene - I see what you mean about the pipe wrench vs the hand. Have to revisit that. I had some difficulty with Commercial/Residential. I needed to have them placed in such a way that they looked 'in-line' with the solid navy blue horizontal bars. If I move the words up, then I'd have to move the bars up too - and they would be crowding the emblem border then...I'll have to mess with that a bit and see if I can work it out.
I'll look at the spacing on 'Plumbing' too....

Todd, it wasn't the pipe wrench I was suggesting was out of place, I was saying the "car badge" look along with the chrome is confusing the issue......It makes the brain think automotive and the wrench is a small enough element that it is going to struggle to power through that 1st impression even for those who know their tools. It's natural for the human mind to "see" what the left brain tells it too.... I'm willing to bet if the post topic had not had the word plumbing on it a lot of other people would have likely had similar comments. However, anyone opening this post was already thinking "It's a plumbing logo" before they saw it.

Well, the neat thing about this Kelly, is that I can use that blank for an automotive related sign sometime down the road..hehe...
I've since made the hand and pipewrench about 30% larger (reducing the amount of wrist and bottom of wrench)....
I see your point, but I think it's one of those viewpoint thingies... I don't see it as an issue at all in regards to the overall design.
Not arguing with you, because I can understand your slant on this - however, I personally think it's not a major consideration.
The customer liked it ... and almost everyone else has where I've posted it - but again, I don't believe that it's ever possible to get 100% consensus on stuff like this.
Again - I do appreciate your viewpoint along with everyone else... :-)

Great design, Todd. Renee is right about the spacing...remember negative space rules, more around the copy (comm & res) would help. I can see the "C" in the pipe wrench too!

I like it alot...however I do see what Kelly sees...if not for the word "PLUMBING" I would also think "automotive repair"...but it does distinctly say "PLUMBING" so you can probably get away it
