This is another Sample and Step by step experiment panel for the shop. Taking Dan's 2010 Challenge to heart by getting samples done of the type work I want to do in the shop.
The piece is 16x32 Ghosted Gluechip (Guess that's the Name for the scrolls) 22 and 24k gold. Abalone Dots and Sliver Leaf.(Since I had that laying around) Done with Mask and Hand brush (Which I still need work on)
The shadowing on the D was a test using Powdered Pearl mixed in the paint but I my highlight is to light and not dark enough on my Deeps but it accomplished what I wanted to test, seeing if it would it work, the teal changes color as the light hits it from different angles. Which the camera can't really pick up. Will be making the frame for it this week sometime which will have a smalts or velvet background.

Neil, It took me a little over a week. I started it on the 8th and worked on it a little every day.. Probably have 18 hours in total.
Cat and Pat, The 'Ghost' was part of the test. What I did was create a small outline around the scroll then weeded out the middles then sand blasted it all. then when I did my First Chip I didn't put any glue on the centers. then when I did my second chip I glued over everything including the asphaltum and that chipped the centers of the scroll and the rest of the chip was deeper and a little of the outline leaving the ghost.. Its not perfect as you can see in the silvered lower section as it over-chipped but created a neat effect.
This will work until I get control over my Brilliant Cutting Wheels.

Beautiful Bill! Can you show a closer picture of the scrolls. That's a new one to me - is it something you dreamed up? Makes me hungry.....I haven't had an opportunity to work on glass for a while.

Very, nice, Bill, though I think I'd have liked a slightly fatter black outline around the actual D to help differentiate it from the rest a bit more.
