For some reason, EVERYONE's logo seems to be burgundy. Must have been a phase.
Hope you enjoy
Small holes predrilled on sides for gilded studs.
Overall size is 1800mm x 900mm or 6 foot x 4.5 foot.
Interestingly, my router bed is only 1100mm, so some tricky design was necessary.

Beautiful sign Gregg. There's just something about burgundy, black and gold.

That's a beauty Gregg. Tell us more about the substrate and painting procedure please.

Guilded Studs??? Tell us more. . . . . Are the "BAKERY" letters separate and applied? Or is it one solid thickness? HDU? Did you hand paint the finishes, or use a mask? What type of paint? Any primer? This is a very nice looking sign. Something like this sets the standards for the entire town. Thank you so much for sharing.

Wow...are those ever some beautiful letters....and the scroll work is outstanding...I like the more subdued scroll work at the bottom even better than the gold on the top...beautiful

Thanks for the comments. Very much appreciated.
The studs to secure are actually "mushroom heads" - drill the wall insert the stud and nail in a nail down the centre.
The letters were done individually, then resin / screwed from behind to secure.
I started out with 18mm MDF (MDO?) double primed all surfaces then resin sealed the edges.
The letters are 30mm HDU. I used a mask for the inner sections and hand painted the outer beyond the gilded lines and scroll work.
I use water based acrylics - satin. Some portions have up to eight coats for decent coverage.
Biggest challenge was the customer - family business and seems to know more than me. I guess I was "cocky" once too, but cocky don't get you learnin'.
Cheers

Very nice job Greg...The background would have been cool with black smalts as well...but she is a beaut.
Posted by Gregg Parkes (Member # 7710) on :
THAT would be so cool, Pat, but sadly we don't have smalts here in Australia, and I have not seen it done, here, so nobody to even guide me through the physical process, or have them "come over" to show me or have a look should things go wrong.

beautiful work Gregg, Are the bottom scrolls carved in or are they raised?
Posted by Jerry Berg (Member # 7841) on :
Very nice work Gregg! Is all of the carving done by hand?

Thanks once again.
This was all done on on a small MultiCam router. All carved except the lettering which is (obviously) raised. Here is a pic installed.
