Hello,

I am trying to get my act together and go out and drum up some business on my own. I never really had any business cards so I decided to bite the bullet and come up with something. This is what I got so far. The word Borges would be embossed and the the rest of the info would be on back. The problem is every time I look at the scipt it bugs me. To be honest the damn thing is driving me crazy. I think I may just to need to leave it alone and call it good. Any feedback on improving the script would be appreciated though.

Thanks,

Charles Borges de Oliveira

Nice, but the 'org' are touching, and the 'ges' are not- that kind of gives me a point to criticise, not that I want to criticise your work...I think I'd like to see some linking of those three letters, however brief.

The loop of the G reminds me of the shape of a feather- I wondered if a feather/pen-nib could fit in there, but it's be upside down.

Maybe a pencil drawn lying flat along the bottom edge of the front?

Well thank you Glenn. Your Wedgewood public golf course sign is a real stunner. Hi Ian, great observations. Unfortunatly making the g connect to e would mean changing the loop to connect to the e and the e cant really connect to the s because of the style of s. Its funny you say that about the pencil. I tried to create a brushstroke that ran under the bor and continued after the ges. It looked too busy so I bagged it. Thanks for the great ideas Ian!

I certainly enjoy your signature and find the spacing pleasant. In a time when most is looking computerized, it is refreshing to see this much personality prevail

I love it just the way it is. Less is more and it's simplicity makes it very elegant. I'm not crazy about orange, but then again it's not my favorite color. My personal opinion is deep maroon or green are the richest colors. Just my personal taste though.

Overall, I like it very much; the script is fine.

If I had any critique at all it would be that on the back, the big empty space in the middle just seems to be....well...empty. I know that if you emboss your script there will be a messed up area there, but maybe a little more thought in that area are in order. Maybe don't emboss, but use the kind of ink that has a little depth to it. I can't remember what it's called, but it's fairly common. That would leave the backside smooth, possibly for something more informational.

Rick, Dave, Arthur and Dale,

Thanks that really means alot. The script is kinda growing on me. I think I am going to probally just call it good and use it. I am new to embossing? Has anybody out there ever used it in a design and were you happy with the end results?

Thanks,

Thanks Bruce!!! I sent the files to the printer. I am excited to see how they turn out.

What Bruce and Arthur said. It's perfect as is, although I do like Dave's suggestion on color. I don't think the back needs any other info; it has your web address to lead a client to seek further.

Elegance and simplicity.
It will stand out in a sea of computer clutter.
[Applause]
Good work, Chuck.

Just an Idea. I like it the way it is but let your signature be visible in a VERY VERY light ghosted image on the back. Just keep it reversed like you are seeing thru the card. It will give it a look like it is slightly transparent.

Such a well balanced design. The script is just beautiful, so well balanced and lively.
A simple elegant design distilled to it's essentials - brilliant.
Also like your use of the reversed embossing as a design element.

Thanks for showing us.

Hi Ryan,

I think what you are talking about will happen naturally when the script is embossed. You will see the indent reversed on the back. But thanks for the idea [Smile] Thank you Rene and Shane. I really appreciate it.

As it........
Print it.

There's always a difference between a graphic illustrator's approach and the sign shop approach.

A good example of "less is more". I love it. Nice script, too.
