Hi Guys, Heres a longboard surfboard I did a couple weeks back for the world champion longboarder who gave it to his boss for his 50th. It has both of the bosses cars on it plus a scene of noosa beach etc. I put a bi-plane in the sky writing "happy 50th Michael". The guys loved the board and want more done.
cheers! Rod Posted by Rod Tickle (Member # 575) on :

I think it looks more like a '64, my X-hubby has one. They have a steering column that pushes out of the way for easy entry/exit.
The job is fabulous Rod. I love the colors, and you really know your way around chrome. Now will he surf with that or will it hang on his wall in a place of honor? Love....Jill

thanks for your kind comments, Jill I doubt it will ever get wet as the guy even cried when it was presented to him at his 50th which he had 300 guests and is a high flier in brisbane. I was told it would hang in their surf shop on the beach at noosa heads a very popular holiday and surf destination here for the rich and world travellers. I'm hopeing it generates more of the same sort of work. cheers! Rod

Rod, that's a beautiful job! i love tbirds, as the curves ae so elegant too. Why doesn't the customer have you paint two? One for surfing and one for his wall! Thanks for the show!

Rod I used to work for Brewer,Hawaiian Pro Designs and Pure Fun on the west coast.Back then a new stick cost about $200 and we'd get $15-$30 for graphics and about $100 for artsy graphics. I'm guessing boards cost 2-3 times that today and wondered if airbrush prices had kept up.I'm sure if there are shops near you ,you'd get a following.I still have the leather stripping tool I made for drawing rail lines and use it on contoured sign boards sometimes

I can see Rod Tickle sitting on the beach every day at Noosa, airbrushing boards between surfing, checking out the local talent, sipping cold beers and counting his heaps of cash!
Nice Rod !
