Though not totally finished, there is a total of 360 foot of real straight lines in 4 different colors of green. The hood has 40 scallops and there are 16 going down the sides. Of course there will be more to come as I add some designs in colors not viewable til you get up close. The theme for this is Hawaiian so a stoned TIKI will be added to the rear hatch

UNBELIEVEABLE
I just wonder how many people can appreciate the talent and discipline required to do a job like this. There are only a small handful of people in the country capable of pulling something like this off.
My hat is off to you joey.

How exactly do you get a tiki stoned?
that is pretty cool!

Wicked cool, Joey. My monitor isn't showing the different greens. How 'bout a closeup. Even better, maybe I'll come out and see it in person!!

What Jake said, squared.
I couldn't visualize it from the phone conversation and earlier pix posted but I get it now.
Now all you need is a hollowed out surfboard with a hinged top strapped to the roof to carry your supplies in.

Very nice Joey, and I can appreciate the talent that went into that.
Can't wait to see the rest.

Good golly Miss Molly!!! 360' of straight lines all on the same vehicle? Just like simple gothic letters, everbody notices if it's 1/1000" off. This has got to be the mother of all striping jobs Joey. Standing Ovation here bud!! Posted by Alicia B. Jennings (Member # 1272) on :
Wow! All the pretty points! Absoloutamente Great job! We all want to see a shot of you doing the bottom stripes.
Posted by Bill Diaz (Member # 2549) on :
Way cool, Joey. You ARE the one!!!!!!!!!
It hurts my back to think about doing all those straight lines! Especially those low fellows. Tell me you had a lift and I won't feel so bad.

I left my in-ground lift in NY and I got to do this in front of my SilverStreak trailer in the cow pasture Posted by Russ McMullin (Member # 5617) on :
You've got nerves of steel. I sure wish I could have been there to watch it happen. Your skills are amazing.

Very painstaking- I won't ask if the left & right sides match, either...well done, Joey!
Have you blended the greens as they change, or pstopped & restarted at a point, or put one down & tapered another over it?
(I did a job some years ago, on black, where the lines- about 1/16", or 1 mm wide actually, changed colour down the side of the panel. I'd paint one colour, then stripe the next, then come back and taper it from the start into the former bit, then stripe the next shade past the end of the second, then go back to the beginning of that, and taper it back onto the second colour. When you looked, it was obvious, but many reckoned they couldn't see the merger. It was a good effect, and not hard to do at all- five colours in total- two shades of blue, two of green on the side, and changing to orange across the front, then the reverse up the other side. Sorry, no pix available!)

Superb job Joey. You have raised the bar again.

Joey, Did you mask off start and stop points? Stabillo? Those lines are incredibly straight!
Looks good, go ahead and take the rest of the day off.... It's OK with me, you earned it! Mark

Heres the layout done in 3M #26343 - 1/8 inch masking tape. I eye everything and rarely use a ruler. I tape one side at a time including 1/3 the sides as the scallops are done one at a time from there to make sure the lines are correct. The layout took 2 days, 3 rolls of tape, a pack of cigarettes, a gallon of spring water and numerous amounts of fruit. Posted by Frank Magoo (Member # 3950) on :

I added this design yesterday but haven't finished it because I had to work at Toyota this weekend. The design is unfinished and will go upwards another 8 inches as I'm looking to tone it down by adding more colors to suppress the burnt orange. Theres 4 colors at this time in this photo. Once again, Joey, I have difficulty spelling a wolf-whistle! Actually, it reminds me of a job I did 10 years ago which was a style of lining called "regency striping", and also called "parti-colour striping", and was seen mainly on the seats of horse-drawn vehicles & some veteran/vintage cars. I think even chitty chitty bang bang may have had it on it. When tastefully done, it's beautiful.
Well done!
(edited to add that- no- chitty is/was different, my memory must be going...!)

Joey,
Looks almost as if you are now qualified to do straight lines! Just Kidding!
I moved from SF a couple weeks ago, but I WILL make it up there some day to see you. I am back in the East in Raleigh, NC, laying lines. I will keep in touch.
