Hi G-Dan,
Yeah routers are one of the coolest things ever. Now I just need to find a good market for wood signs...Nothing like a bunch of samples for people to touch.

Looks cool john.

What router do you have?

I like the skull but not the font.
The name is squished and the "east" is spaced out.
I know I'm going to sound like a jerk, and I mean this in a kind way, but if you can afford a router you can afford to buy Mike Steven's Mastering Layout book to help you make your designs look even better!
Love....Jill

I'd have to agree with Jill....I like the skull...but the rest could have been executed in a more effective way...

It's hard posting and responding to others posts in the portfolio section, because nobody wants to hurt anyone's feelings.

On the other hand, I guess the portfolio site is for displaying what you've done, what you're proud of, but also putting your work out for critique....so that one might consider alternative, hopefully better, ways of improving one's skills.

Very few of us could post something that is sooo good that it couldn't command some constructive advice from others here.

Todd you have a point there. I want to post as many pics as I can, to not only get input but to help get other people to ask questions that may help others on future signs.

What they used how they constructed it etc.

I have pulled many of ideas off this site pertaining to colors, shapes, products and a lot of great fonts.

Critique should be expected.

I studied Russe's last logo job close before reading any posts and after reading what Mark suggested on the front tire and shoulder enhancement was not to say he did it wrong but to give another view.

We can only learn more by posting more.

I have a shopbot router. No offense taken or hurt feelings from anyone, I want to learn more from everyone on this site. I appreciate the constructive feedback. I have purchased Mike Stevens book and plan on studying it. This is something I really want to do.

Thanks,
John

Hey John, Sonny gave me that Stevens book at the Zoo meet last summer & I am reading it too, so don't feel alone!!!!!

In your defense however, this is one of your first practcie pieces, right? You are doi'n good, you will get better & better!

I do not have a fancy router, but my hubby sandblasts signs for me. My first ones needed lots of tweeking, but I am getting better!

Contact some of the manufacturers of HDU also, & ask them for samples. You will find it is so much fun to use!

Thanks Bobbie. Yeah, it's actually my first completed sign, I figure it's only up from here.... [Smile]
