Got contacted by a local department to do them a new sign, they wanted to spiff things up before they hosted the fire convention, which happens to be during their 50th anniversary.
The before...
Yes, that is regular lumber-yard grade plywood. It says PDVFD (those are Ds not Os)
Told them what I wanted to do & they loved it, although they wanted to go 6x6 and I just wasn't happy with seaming it, the seam bugs me like you wouldn't believe.
They wouldn't go for the hand laid gold but I think the signgold looks wonderful against the deep purple.
Can't wait to print this one for the portfolio.

What an improvement!
I tweaked the photos to be a little lighter so they show up better on my monitor:

Chris, I think you did a great job with the seam. The pattern is lined up perfectly.
It's just one of those things that bugs the heck out of ya, because YOU know it's there.

Very nice work, Kissy! Yes, you matched that seam up really good. You must be so proud of yourself! Good for you!

Hey Kissy, can I add some comments that differ?
The emblem looks good in the close up photos, but from back at the road I can't read it. I don't see Plumville or fire department, which seems like the important message. I do understand that everyone ther knows what it is, but I think something needs to stand out more. Personally, I like to put the emphasis on "VOLUNTEER" because they give so much to the community.

Love it Kissy think I will make one for my station. Goood woooork

Thanks everyone.
Rick, I could read it when standing on the road taking the picts, just doesn't show up real well when the picts are so small on here. I didn't want to put the "district" on there, makes it real crowded, but they insisted.
