I like to think I can spot a natural.... This is a drum head my friend Matt did recently for his band. His layout (hand drawn) and all work was his own I just showed him some tricks with the gold. I hope he will take the opportunity to post some more of his work....
the artist....

Ok, Geet....he did this all or did you help? In any case, it is a cool job. My favorite part is the highlights on the "the"! But what the heck is a bindle stiff? Neato car too. Love....Jill

Ok OK.... time for me to fess up! I only hang around with Matt because I wanna drive his car.
I did lay the size on the letter "E" but only because I was so busy flappin my jaw that the AZ dry heat was curing the size a little fast.
Other than that this young man had full control... no computers no stencils.
with just under a full year at this I'd say he pretty much has a grasp for it.... not to mention a full time job where he gets to use his talent for making signs.
I sure hope all my buddies here at Letterville chime in on this.... If we get to 35 posts maybe he'll let me take the old sled for a spin?!?!
A bindle is the little sachel a bum would carry on a stick over his shoulder and a stiff is a bum... of sorts.

Yo Geet!!!
Your man lookn' good for a newbie, his rides cool too! '53 chebby, chopped, nosed, grille molded, headlites sunk, handles removed, decked, cool tail lites, laker pipes, lowered, black-satin. I'd take a spin too...
The layouts alittle stiff don't cha think?
Flapn' the jaw in the heat, man, you live dangerously...watch the lizards, they've been there longer...
Wow, Peach said car w/o the accent...
OK, I'm packing my bindle as we speak, sorta...
This is the eighth post, 27 more...

hey everybody, thanks for the compliments on my first gold leaf piece! thanks to geet for the help and for posting it. i know it's not perfect so if anybody could suggest any improvements i won't be offended. i'll take all the help i can get to make my next one better. good luck trying to get behind the wheel of my car geet, oh wait... i'm helping with this post, how many more do you need now?
oh yea, magoo... you got everything about the car right, except that it is a pontiac, but it does have a chevy grill.
thanks again!

Matt; so that's what's not right with dashboard, it's not chevy!!! damn! i should've known that one too, drove in one for years...
Yeah! that Geet's a wascal ain't he? Good man, listen up...only thing i found that STOOD right out, was white lines from main copy to shadow. They should all be at same angle through-out entire line. I'd used a airbrushed hi-lite myself. To mention others is to pick, not enough wrong to ruin the good job already done, of course it has room for improvement, but that will come w/practice and time. As one goes along, one "acquires" a style, particular to themselves, reaching this point takes brush time...keep doing it...follow Geet's lead and practice-practice!!!
