This is my latest effort. My first time using the Chisel Font.
One observation is that next time I think I will reverse the grey and white in the font. The way I have it now has the light source coming from the lower right corner of the sign.
Does anyone else have any rules of thumb for using the Chisel Fonts???
Critiques and comments welcome.

The light source is top left the way you have it now. Light color = light source. The grey is the shadow side. You did good.

You have it top left like Robb says.

Good lookin' sign!
Light source on a two color chisel effect like that depends on whether you see it as convex or cancave. It's your choice (or rather, your brain's choice). My brain tends to automatically go to convex. I can barely force those letters into concave.
see this post for some other thoughts on convex vs. concave: Concave lettering Posted by Stevo Chartrand (Member # 2094) on :
Nice Sign Joe!!

Great sign Joe, but you spelled 'Centre' wrongly

Thanks for the kudos.
I must be left brained.... I look at the chisel font as incised or concave... thus the light source in the lower right... I guess I'll have to convert...
Thanks for the link Joe, I remember that thread now.

i have been doinf ALOT of signs using the chisel font, BUT WHAT I DO IS: i try and talk them into using the reflective vinyl, to add more night -time exposure (more bang for their buck) the i do the chisel font in the reflective and use "shadow effect" or "true shadow" vinyl for the second half of the chisel color.
THE EFFECT IS AMAZING!!!! you can use it on ANY color reflective vinyl (or any color regular vinyl, but the reflective is the most amazing one to use)
try it, and watch it POP!!!
by the way... great sign.

Joe,
I really like it - i love the panel at the bottom and the thin stripe around the border. The entire sign just looks right to me.
Thanks, Steve

Thanks Steve and Mychael.
I will have to try a sample piece with the reflective and true shaddow. Honestly I'm not really a big fan of the reflective, but the true shaddow sounds like a natural for this application. Thanks again.
