I installed this one today. 4x4 on all mdo. Latex paint bground Vinyl lettering, one shot painted outlines and dropshade. Avery gold leaf on small oval. This is a church attended by all black folks, and the two ladies I worked with were both really nice. All the members of the church are up in age, mostly in their seventies. it is such a joy to deal with good customers, it is obvious you pulled all the stops out on this one. nice layout and appointments(the finials and trim moulding are wonderful.

You didn't ask for a critique, but I will add one suggestion. I would have placed "Baptist Church" a little higher in the panel to optically balance the negative space within the panel. Hope you don't take this as a negative criticism of your ability because you did a great job.

I am wondering why you went with laytex paint instead 1-Shot?? I didn't think vinyl stuck well to that type of paint??

Thanks to everyone for their comments. I really enjoyed this job. The panel shape is one from Vector Art Mega Collection. They have several pages of good panel shapes in there. I sometimes change em around a little, but on this job, straight off the cd. Raymond, you are exactly right. Sometimes when using shadows, I forget to allow for that when placing the lettering. It should have been moved up some. Mark, I've been using latex paints for backgrounds for a couple years now, with no problems at all with vinyl adhesion. Especially when using premium vinyls. I also use latex for the outlines and shadows sometimes, as I have a set of the Mack water based brushes. Sometimes you have to two coat, but not alot. Its all in the quality of the paint. I use Porter and Ace brands. Both 15 year paints. Still a big one shot user though. Me and Russ Mills of Artcrafts Signs are doing a job next week on some school cafeteria walls. About 14 different characters all hand painted. Lookin forward to it. Oh yeah, on the posts, the finials were bought at Lowes. Very nice cap and ball that I attached with silicone and finishing nails. The pieces on the lower part of the posts are 3/4 inch strips of pine I cut on the table saw and attached with finishing nails. Ive seen this done before, and liked the look it gave it.

Thanks for the info John. I just finished a small 29" X 26" mdo sign and used 1-shot for the background. Even with a little low temp reducer, it seemed like it took forever to dry.
