Here's a job one of the guys in the shop recently did. It was a red Acura NSX and he covered it with Shade Shifter vinyl and black vinyl in the recessed area. It passes as paint when people walk up to it.

This particular stuff is the Avery brand. Believe or not, it was actually 15" material. It was spliced toward the bottom of the middle section. I can't believe someone would have paid for this car but didn't want to spring for a paint job.

Incredible looking installation!!!
Quite a talented guy you got there.

Can we see a close-up of the seam,
still can't believe that's not paint

Sorry Bruce, he didn't get any real closeups. Here's a few more pics of the way they started out and a finished shot of the hood. He ended up using 2-10 yard rolls of shifter and Oracal 751 for the black. I guess the black stripe got put into the scheme in order to be able to get away with only having to get the Shade shifter in 15" rolls. From what he's heard, the vinyl has already been removed.

I saw one painted last summer. This is absolutely amazing here; you can't even see the seams. The car looks awesome before he painted it. Do you think he chose vinyl in case he wanted to remove it easily later? what would it do the to red paint if he did decide later? would it dull
(anyway it is nicely done, and I would love to drive that car).

hEY...WE ALMOST PUT THIS STUFF ON OUR SHOP VAN....but then I decided to sell it instead.

IT IS available in up to thirty inch rolls.

Several variations....it is a very thin material, and translucent when held up...you can actually see through it.

Very cool stuff though, lots of potential there.
