Not a great pic but would be interested in hearing thoughts on this.
Sorry gang I should have included some detail. The sign substrate is red wood. It is 34"x 10". The center section was routed out with the letter outline. The end florishes were hand carved. The center maroon around the letters and dark maroon areas in the florishes are smoltzed. The border and florishes were then stained dark walnut. The actual lettering is vinyl laid on the routed outline. Before laying the vinyl we coated with clear urethane. It was finished with antique brass tacks. Thanks for the comments. It was a fun sign to do.

Now can someone explain to me what "smoltzed" means, please? I am still learning english, but that sounds like the german word "schmelzen", which means: to melt. Am I close?
