no offence Rob, but I welcome your CRITIQUES (as in professional and informative), not amatuer unexplained one-liners.
I respect you disliking the idea, but I find it rude and DISrespectful to say so without offering the courtesy of a critique as to WHY you feel that way and your suggestion on what YOU would do differently.

Barry- I think it has a cool look. But there seems to be alot going on. The word gorgeous on an angle bothers me. It is fighting with the horizontal and vertical lines of the design. I like the fonts. Maybe run Gorgeous horizontal and leave hello on an angle but much smaller as almost secondary copy. Let the hello overlap gorgeous and cast it's shadow on it. I think you have something just need tweaking. Has an old style art deco look to it.

For me, I see a couple things that bother me.
1) I'm not much of a fan seeing Rage Italic and Bremen together. They really aren't compatable IMHO.
2) As Rob said, the slant. It can be done in a slant, and I think I understand what you are attempting to do, but I don't think Bremen is the way to go.
3) The vertical pattern reminds me of the pattern on a giraffe or leopard. That combined with those colors gave me an African or Safari type feel. And again, with those type styles, it doesn't feel "natural".
Something you may want to try is doing "Gorgeous" in the script and slant with the "G" oversized; and, try the word "Hello" in a sans serif other than Bremen. Also, I would change "SALON & TANNING" to something else other than Bremen.
Is there are certain style or period look that you are after?

Glenn makes some valid points but not knowing what the salon itself looks like, I myself can't tell you to stear away from the art deco look. It may be fitting with the decor. The one things I do now agree with is the font that gorgeous is in. You may change that to something not quite so bold. But what the heck do I know. Just trying help.

wHEW!! Ya'll are roasting me good! The place is a mix of Safari and Art Deco--I am reflecting the interior design of the client. It is supposed to appeal to a younger crowd, as well as secondarily older folk.. It is OLD and NEW.
The Gold Gorgeous is a 3 layer dimesional that will be raised to cast shadow onto the surface of the sign. The Salon and tanning line is also raised.
as the tag line suggtests the sign is a mixing of WILD and BEAUTIFUL...

Don't take it too hard! This one looks like a fun challenge, & you've got some good elements. The combo of safari & art deco sure is wild, and old movie posters of Tarzan come to mind. Think Tarzan meets flapper girl... & don't be restricted by what you've done so far. I often do 3-4 fully developed layouts before doing a dimensional gold leaf sign. It will pay off when you sell more like it in the neighborhood!

Barry, please don't take anything personal. You asked for it. I said I liked what you got but would make a few small changes. I'm a fan of art deco type things. My friend Spider just did a sign for a salon called Jungle Red. It has very much the same feel of yours and sounds to be for the same reasons(younger crowd).

Hi Barry......I like your design! My take is just a bit bolder. I think it is always fun to see others ideas. I lost your animal spots when I converted. .....sorry it was supposed to be "WILD" instead of "bold" I really like those animal spots!!!!...but I didn't have time to put them in. I also like the font you used at the bottom "be wild..be beautiful" what is that font?

I don't mind the fonts (although gorgeous seems a bit to tight ... especially the "RG") What kind of bugs me is the way "hello" and "gorgeous" both skew up the same but "hello" slants to the right and "gorgeous" seems to slant slightly left. "I" would ... space out the gorgeous a bit more ... maybe oversize the G a bit like Glenn said and have top copy angle the same ... then go on to the next job.
