Well... I tried again...

Here is my latest effort. Don't laff at me, but I haven't touched an airbrush since school, don't have a clue what I am doing, haven't practices AT ALL... heheheh then I take on a tank!!!

Told him I would do it. Ok. Figured I would paint it from pattern... then come to find out when I go to body shop Wed afternoon to pick it up, that the guy is traveling on Friday!!!!

So I had to do the tank on Thurs, get it to body shop, he put on 5 coats clear overnight and the guy is picking it up and putting it together this afternoon.

So... here it is...

Chris at the body shop repainted the tanks from maroon to the really cool purple. He is the one that put the striping tape on. The guy (a local sheriff deputy) picked out a lavender color for stripes.

So Chris gave me piece of stripe to match paint to.

Since i had to have done (designed and painted) and ready to clear in less than a day... i decided to make pattern and airbrush it. Didn't think you could clear over oneshot that quickly and i don't have any hardener. Couldn't remember anything about using an airbrush, had to look up instructions... been about 3 years since did a little in school!!!

I had bought auto air paint thru the auction here so used that. Worse thing was that i had to mix up that lavender purple to match striping... from these colors: florescent lime green, hot pink, white, chrome yellow, hot orange, light brown, flame orange, aqua and fuchsia.

So if anyone is wondering... fuchsia and aqua and white mixes up to a real pretty lavender...

I actually matched the color DEAD ON!!! Coudn't believe it.

Had major problems with it splattering water on paint while working... ended up having to talk to Old Paint and Dave Sherby (thanks again guys!) but i did get the blends and such on there.

Then came the inside of the lettering. I should have really sat ahead of time and tried to figure out steps, but not enough time. SO i couldn't fill in letters with airbrush, i'm need some practice using the thing first...

SO, get this, don't laff too hard... i go in my crafts box (i am at home ya know, not in the shop where all my real supplies are) and pull out a brush and paint the lettering with the airbrush paint.

I KNOW... i figure THAT out real quick... so i put two more coats on and decided it needed help. SO i used an old yucky brush and stippled lt and dk aqua on bottom half of lettering, then came in with liner brush in did inline shadow left and bottom with the purple of the striping.

Wasn't real sure i liked it when it was done, but gosh darn it all... when i went to see it after Chris put all that clear on there... actually turned out pretty cool!!

I was basket case til the guy sees it - Chris said he is pretty picky... oh great.

But he said was ok... then brought the sheriff back to see it at Chris' shop - didnt even wait to show it off til bike back together!!

Paid me $150 cash on the spot. He's happy, I'm happy... guess is ok!!

OH, and hey... SPECIAL THANK YOUs to DeWayne Connot for actually calling me when i emailed him couple weeks back to ask about stuff. Shocked the bejeebers outta me... but was pretty cool...

HAHA, Dana, you GO girl!!!! I just found my old Paashe (single action, hehe) airbrush in the garage last night, only used it ONCE about 8 yrs ago....have no idea how to put it all together anymore, looking for all the parts AND the compressor (somewhere under all that crap out there!) But I'm determined to play around with it and start putting into practice some of the things i learned in Boise......
You have me all inspired now! I'm going to try my hand at some of that stuff too!
Keep up the great work!
Adrienne
