Hi Folks,

I finally convinced Dana to send me a photo of her work to post on here. I really like how she accomplished the leaf in this, very nice layout too! Good work Dana!

Here's what she says about this panel.

"I'm not sure what to say about this sign. Just that it used to be old ugly
yellowish block building with individual letters for sign, missing a couple.

So they refinished the front with half log and had me do their sign. 2x8
all painted except bottom line of copy. Nothing spectacular, but does the
job and have had lots of compliments on it. I wanted to stick something on
portfolio page so I could give people idea of what I do.

Dana, Thank you for the next layer of revealing who you are. I like your sign. Proportions and positioning are well chosen. Colors work well. Nice job.

Nice job Dana, I like the way the leaf stands out and gets attention. Kinda looks like gold leafing on my computer, is it?

Thanks guys for the compliments. I told Nettie that I guess I am playing with the big boys now!

The colors don't show real well. Ivory background & small copy, dk brown border & panel, dk green main copy, green/ivory shade and bullets. Background of leaf is blotches of yellow, orange and green with dk brown outline & details.

I wanted to pull the orange out of leaf and do little pinstripy outline around letters, but these folks are pretty conservative and I didn't want to take any chances.

Thanks again!

Great sign.
I think leaving out the orange outline is the right choice. It has a very tasteful, elegant look which would only be diminished by the outline. The lettering style is beautiful with a touch of formality that doesn't need embellishment and it also leaves the leaf as the deserved focal point.

This is one of those designs where restraint is the better choice.

Nice use of the dark panel for 2nd lettering too.

Nice work Dana!

Clean, attractive and readable...leaf sets a nice tone for the business.

Smaller copy nice and low-key.

I'd be happy if I had turned this out.

Keep up the nice work.

Beautiful work, Dana. I agree with all the previous comments. The simplicity of the layout is classically elegant. Adding anything would detract from that overall effect.
