Well I have come to a point in life to say that in 11 days I will never do another sign again in my life...

I am sick and tired of the big block red letters on white backgrounds that undercut true design.

I will never stop working on graphics IE.Airbrush/Murals/Portraits/Carvings...

But as far as signs themselves,I have no more use for them.
As for around here the motto is the uglier and cheaper it is..... The customer loves it.

Time to close the doors and work on finer craft items only.
[Dunno]

Never say never but I feel your pain.

Good move, Stephen. If you don't do the work you want to do, it won't get done. Do it, or die wishing you had. A Venezuelan friend calls this kind of work "sin oficio."

As for those dreadful potboiler "signages," take heart in a famous rebel who's about to have a birthday:

"Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, and cast not thy pearls before swine!"

Amen, Bruce...and what a profound thing to post!
It really hits the spot.
Stephen, my love, you have to do what feels best for you & gives you the most joy. I am sure that with your talent and positive attitude you will find much satisfying work in the new year.
Love- JILL [Wink]
(I type this just after a customer brought a coroplast sign over for me to modify...grrr...but I am broke!)

To Jilly Bean and others..

I love the industry but only to see a it gone wild with price on a NO-Design..concept

I have given up on the different (How too!)
Everything is Vinyl or Digital Prints..........
But there is other points of How Too!.

The Coro or Dibond or Plastic with plastic outcome is showing myself that the Brush with Paint/Sweat and Tears.. Don't count anymore.

Not here anyway!

That is why I stated that it is time just to work on items that are not Proposals and Commercial artwork.

Better of working on items of self designs were you can ask your price without bidding on the same ideas drawn by someone else.

The customer with in-house design are not stupid and you only get sucked into the Vortex of underbiding for the job!
[Confused]

Happy Holidays Stephen.

Now the fact to me relies on you educating the people, rather then giving up. If you were a sign person to begin with, I might understand, but you are an airbrush person right? If so, are you going to give up airbrushing as well?

A-men Stephen - I get quite fed up with the GENERIC black & white or red & white signs I could hurl so I'm gonna start trying something new on the side of my truck with the generic signs and something with a little bit of pizzazz side by side with a ? about is your biz worth a little extra or summat.

Have a great holiday!
