Sometime within the next 48 hours, the Letterhead BB will see it's 4,000,000 th. visitor.
Every New Year's Eve, at precisely Midnight, we reset the counter located in the bottom left of your screen. This counter clicks over everytime one of you visits the BB. Last year's total was 3,399,7232. Thanks to all of you, this old record was exceeded by 600,000 extra visits.
There's still a week until New Years. Should we go for 5 million? Just kidding! Go spend sometime with your families.

Steve.... Do I get a free box of Duz if I am #4,000,000? love- JILL

It would be really cool if we could actually isolate the 4,000,000 th. visitor. Due to the speed the counter changes, that is impossible.
Sorry Jill. We'll have to find another reason to shower you with gifts. Speaking of showers! You going to have a big supply of exotic soaps and shampoos available in your shower at the PJ Meet?
I know it's rude, but I just can't resist getting into other peoples bathroom stuff.

Stevie baby I even have a shower massage! It works GREAT...and you feel so clean afterwards! Root away in any of my cupboards, closets, wherever. Just don't expect spa-variety products...I shop at the Mars Foodland. Love JILL

Shame on you, Pierre! I never said I was gonna shower with Steve. There is room for both Steve & Barb in my shower...but not for me! Love- JILL

I'm betting it happens on Christmas Eve.
How cool would that be? Rapid

There's a three-way shower happening on Christmas eve? Cool, spread the word.

3-way at Jill's Christmas Eve? Glad I'll be safe at home with my whole freaking family at my house.
You do know the shower massage is the reason she's smiling in her pict, don't you?
Posted by pierre (Member # 1462) on :
So.... she was using it when the picture was snapped? NOW I get the smile! Cool beans!

Sorry to disappoint yins... that was taken at the panel jam warehouse the day before the Mars meet! I had been living on 2 hours sleep a day & fielding tons of calls...my contacts literally would not stick to my eyeballs. I could have used a shower massage about then...but I had a headache. And I always grin like an idiot anyway! love Jill

Took quite a jump overnight, all the way to 4,000,356. That's a bunch!

The counter was only 2,000 visits away when I headed for bed at 3am. We missed seeing it rollover too.

Sorry Steve, but I'm gonna halfta question the accuracy of the fastcounter by bcentral. It might not be keeping track of individual posters. If you go back to the menu page you'll see the number of current logged-in members and guests. Down at the bottom, you'll see the fastcounter total. While the numbers of the people logged in doesn't change, the total number of visits will. Stay there and hit the refresh button a few times and you'll see what I mean.
While cleaning out internet temporary files from 1 visit to Letterville, you will find several files listed as fastcounter/bcentral. What I think is really happening here is that total is actually counting each post (thread) that is clicked on. Sorry for being the Grinch on Christmas Eve, but I don't think that the total is accurately counting people.
Merry Christmas All

absolutely right Bill. I just refreshed a few times until I saw an increase of 16 in 30 seconds while the site shows 15 people logged on. I remember discussing this with Steve a year or so ago. I think he has a pretty good understanding of what effects the numbers, but I agree that referring to them as visitors rather then "visits" could be misleading to some.
Either way 4 million of "something" represents growth from 3-1/2 the same "something" even if we are somewhat vague on what that something is.

These counters never give a truly accurate measurement of actual visitors. They just measure everytime the page is opened. That could be people returning again and again, or someone refreshing the page over and over. Refreshing the page is basicially reloading the page, so it counts it just like another visit.
It's not rocket science, but we've used the same counter for years. If you look at the report this counter generates, you can clearly see a consistancy to the figures. As far as I know, we are the only sign related website with a counter actually visible.
A couple weeks ago, someone asked about Letterville stats. That lead to some extensive investigation and a lengthly response in the following post.
