since reading todd gills post and seeing the direction of that....why not put up an EDUCATIONAL or FYI section on the bb?
we got 5000+ people stop in here and read this board.
can you imagine...the compulation of information of so many diverse subjects that many can have? i never knew todd to be avid reader, see what i mean.....didnt know curt was a poe fan(me too). didnt know anything about hemingways problems, always considered him a talented alcholic(ive met many of them).
i know most of the people here have no problem sharing info bout signs but we all have some area of expertice, that has nothing to do with signs.
if we cant get a section for then we need to have some one do a INFORMATIONAL POST, once a week/2 weeks/month that would bring in some fresh educational aspect to all of us.......sort of a "sharing of like minds."
just so steve wont have to work at this, i think he should get a couple of us who write well to moderate that area, like myra, todd, cam, the ones who have a grasp of the english language....and it would BE ONLY EDUCTIONAL CONTENT.

Well OP you finally admitted it. You dont have a grasp!

Something like the " Meeting of the Mindless " Joe?

I appreciate your suggestions Joe. We could add all sorts of new Forums, but our experience tells us most people only have time to read this Forum and the Porfolio Forum. There's already a huge volume of information we feel many our users are missing. These include reports on almost 70 Past Letterhead, Pinhead and WallDog Meets. Numerous Step By Steps and all the other stuff we've managed to collect over the years.

Letterville has always been dedicated to promoting The Letterhead Movement and those that call themselves Letterheads. We talk about signs here, but our real interest is the people that produce the signs. That's a fulltime job in itself! The OT posts are of interest to a few. I have no objection to them being included in this forum as long as the Laws Of Letterville are followed.

Awfully brief responses, presented in throw away phrases, to Joe's probably quite sincere idea.

I don't really think that being hostile, personal, and use a putdown is communication.
What I see happening is criticism that is relatively substance less. First it diverts from the issue, and then it attacks the person.

I am saying this because it happens often. And because nobody else will. And because some things need to be said to show they are not OK. I point to this post as an example of a way we interact that while achieving nothing productive, we just waste time and harm emotion.

Personal Civility is a really big thing when it is absent.

I know Joe does not need me to defend him, and might resent it.
and
I don't take issue with the Mayor here. He is just saying what he has said before, and it is not personal.

Old Paint...

You could always start one yourself using this popular Message Board software: it's free and easy to use. Perhaps put a link from your website or from your signature on posts to this board...anyway here's the link:

steve said, " but our real interest is the people that produce the signs."
this is also what iam saying...the people who are here all have some diversity of hobbies, education, special interests...that most of us dont even have a clue of it.
the tood gill post was one of those, that was informative above and beyond stuff we do everyday.
steve has great interest in guitars, maybe has one with a history to it. pierre is a gun collector we know but i dont know whay the K-111 is so special. joey, c.j. and si bob have pasts that are history making to some of us when they worked with/knew/ barris, roth, von dutch. un less some of these things get put down and pasted on they will get lost in time. why you have a special interest in something, what got you interested in doing something special that no one else does.
this is waht iam sayin....."interested in the people who make signs".....and their lifes....

Joe. I would never shoot you down or try to embaress you. A no thanks is something we all hear from time to time. All I meant to say was that we have a self determined plan for Letterville. At this time, we have no plans to make changes to something that is working very well.

I have to let Myra in on a secret. OP, Harris and Joey Madden are longtime chatpals. They've spent lots of time together and love to jab fun at each other. OP and his friends in chat are a perfect example that Letterheads with oppossing views on almost everything can still become good friends.

But your point is valid Myra. There are many times the impersonal form of communication we practise in these discussion forums leaves much to be desired.

VonDutch, Barris and anything to do with the Kustom Culture is a more than welcome subject for discussion here in Letterville. Bob Burns did one of the best articles ever on Von Dutch.

I can see clearly now that for Christmas I needed a clue about what poking fun between chat pals really means!

What was I thinking, when you guys were just being friendly?

I'm glad you like me Joey, I look forward to meeting you one day.
