Does not look like anything changed from what I can tell are you sure it is not your system just displaying the wrong font?
Posted by old paint (Member # 549) on :
my text only on on this site....is italic!!! no other web page text is changed.....
Posted by Delzell (Member # 1965) on :
Joe,
My text is fine. You sure it is not the "Italian" coming out?
Maybe you have a virus
Posted by Steve Shortreed (Member # 436) on :
Nothing has changed at this end Joe. Gotta be one of those option issues.
Posted by Si Allen (Member # 420) on :
Did you just add a font? sometimes it also becomes your system font.
Posted by Todd Gill (Member # 2569) on :
Are you SURE it's Italic, or is your head tipped slightly to one side? Hahaha...just kiddin' ya Joe... HOPE YA GET IT FIXED! Posted by old paint (Member # 549) on :
yea i fixed it i changed hard drives...iam on 98se and nothing wrong....XP IS SO GREAT!!! its now changed the font on this bb, the only one its all italic.....when iam on the chat and typing it decides to make all my typing caps!!!! or it wont type an makes square black boxes....which i have to hiughlite then delet then it will type ok for a bit.....hope the next rendition is better...
Posted by pcbytes (Member # 1444) on :
Just install the same fonts you used on windows 98se I always keep a copy of my system fonts so when I upgrade all the main fonts I use regularly are all still their.

at home (win XP) this site and a few others look completely differnt than from work (win 98). like OP, i've looked in the Explorer fonts options, the system font options, etc. and still have not found the magic fix. my case is not as bad as what OP is experiencing, but i can relate to having the computer not look the way you want and expect it to.
Posted by Joe Endicott (Member # 628) on :
OP, just do as the bumper stickers suggest..."Quit Your Bitchin', and Start a Revolution!"
Posted by Danny Busselle (Member # 3746) on :
OP I Have a few fonts that I have Played With. There is a Golith a Plug a thick and thin Italic casual scrip a Formal Commerical script from that builds everthing else. Have nice day Joe...

HEY JOE....ill start IT in GULF BREEZE....HEHEHEHEHE. most of you are not readin.....its not something i can change(iam the guy that gets calls when everybody elses computers screw up).....this is just WITH XP ONLY. iam not impressed with most of the XP functions. it has some nice things for people who want an O/S that does everything for them. we, at least me need an O/S that can be set up to do the thing I WANT , NOT WANT IT WANTS!!! therin lies the problem with XP, it does things i dont want done. the font thing is NON-CHAGABLE, it only happens on the LETTERHEAD board, so its got to be something with the XP and the interface of the BB. no other bb's FONTS ARE CHANGED.
Posted by Bruce Evans (Member # 44) on :
afraid it's you Joe. XP doin just fine here.
Posted by Jeff Ogden (Member # 3184) on :
You've been breathing that Oracal 651 again, haven't you Joe !
Posted by Curtis hammond (Member # 2170) on :
This may be the problem. just a slight guess.
OP. U ain't called the guy that you call when you cannot fix something in XP... Me!! Why ain't you called me yet ??????? You musta forgot I was a beta testor of XP long before any one had it.. Yer about the only one that hasn't called me yet..
Why is it that you are the only one that hates XP so much. Any way, Your default font setting must have changed somehow I would guess a few fonts or something got deleted.
Ill stop by to see you next week. Maybe i can look at yer XP death machine an kill off a few gremblins..
font probs: This problem occurs if the character set that you type is not registered in the Shift JIS character set. It is only fixable thru a post-Office XP Service Pack 2 (SP-2) fix. To install the fix, you must have Office XP SP-2 installed.

DUUUUUUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH....

since everyone has run in circles on this how about...
what fonts are considered "system fonts" and/or are the most common used fonts for BBs like this one?
the reason i put it like this is the small headers on the top section of this BB (Hello, Log Out, Letterhead/PinHead Talk, etc.) look easier to read on the win 98. yet at home on the win XP, it's a bold, condensed font that is difficult to read. this makes me think that XP has excluded a more common font that win 98 had, thus substuting the font for (next prefered font in the HTML code/script, or closest in alphabetical order; ie:no Arial- sub Aristocrat)
Steve, do you know what fonts are your preffered font for this board?
Posted by Scott Pagan (Member # 2507) on :
found it. Verdana is the font i need to install at home to have it look like what i see at work.
OP track it down (or copy from your win 98 machine), install, and see if that fixes it for you.
if it doesn't and you need to change your windows header fonts, right-click on desktop go into desktop display properties>advanced, select each item and set your desired fonts (and sizes).

scott...you one FART SMELLA..I mean smart fella....hehehehehehhe!!!!! that fixed it.....butttttttt the question remains, HOW. WHY & WHEN did XP DECIDE TO CHANGE my internet font from verdana to latin?????? and then make it ITALIC...... WITHOUT MY PERMISSSION!!!!!!! thats what bugs me!!!
Posted by Scott Pagan (Member # 2507) on :
joe, i think XP just doesn't come with that font. since many web designers are taught verdana is (was) a system font it's a common font to default or substitue to. drop it in and the world looks a little more legible.

Posted by Delzell (Member # 1965) on :
OP
If you accidently delete a font it has to go to something else. Why it picked italic for an italian we will never know! And you may not of deleted a font yourself but uninstalling or a bad file may of caused your fun.
P.S. My money is on Sheila

Yes OP,
I know Youngstown. That's where you will not get your rims back. I have a Uncle near there. What you think they will take care of OP, out of towner before family? You may be Italian but just not the right family : )
Amd what do you mean years ago? They are still there, just more low key. 60's? Hey I was just a youngun then.
Get a map OP and check how close Sebring is to Youngstown. Then we will talk. Grand parents lived east of there.
