I would like to attend a carving school to learn a few more tricks. Prsently I do carve signs but sometimes find myself struggling. I thought I might check out a school in the New England area. Has anyone attended one they would recommend.

Hi Rob,

Chisel Jam VI was a great learning experience that was well worth the money and time. You will make chips...and you will have fun! [Smile]

Does Paul White still do classes out on the Cape? Or Jay Cooke up in Vermont? They used to have ads in SignCraft, but I haven't looked in awhile.

I took a look in Paul White's carving book. In the front it mentions he does workshops one weekend every month. I have no idea if he still does, but he would be my first choice.

Have fun!

Hey Rob.... I've been both Jay Cooke's and Paul White's classes, they are awsome and fun.... Jay's is great for business minded folks who want to thrive and should be required for any sign hack in his own shop. I also have a lot of respect for Paul and his work.... I'd be happy to show you some of my work and host a small group here for a 2-3 day carve class too. Lemme know, I'm just 45 minutes from Conway, NH.

Stephen,

Let me know when your gonna do that meet. I'm not too far away and would be interested in learning some carving stuff.

Great post. I'll have to look up Jay sometime soon.

Rapid

Rob,

Paul White is probably the best sign/carver offering classes, IMHO....he recently had a heart attack, so I don't know the status of his classes.

This guy www.klitsas.com is pure carver, close to you, does weekends, week and two weekers and Wed. nites. Francis Lestingy PHD took the one weeker and went back for the 2 weeker.

Anybody interested in beautiful, traditional carving should check out this guys site!!! [Eek!]

Joe,
Makin Chips and Havin Fun!
