Following a comment on Chat that RT & I (amoung many others) would travel half way around the World just for a Letterhead Meet ....
Try your score on the following ... (A)= 1 point (B) = 2 points (C) = 3 pionts.
1 (A) Do you visit this Bullboard on a regular basis? (B) Daily? (C) More than once a day, and read all the posts?
2 (A) Have joined in the chat channel? (B) At least once a week? (C) Every day possible?
3 (A) Have you attended a Letterhead Meet? (B) Go to every one possible, even if it means walking over broken glass! (C) Travelled more than 1000 miles to one, or even overseas?
4 (A) Do you have a panel from a fellow Letterhead proudly displayed? (B) More than one? (C) Wonder where the heck you are going to find room to hang the next one?
5 (A) Do you have "withdrawals" from not being able to do any of the above? (B) More than once. (C) Daily?
I scored 12/15 !!!! Rate myself hopelessly "hooked"
What's your score and how do you rate yourself?
Posted by Harris Kohen (Member # 2139) on :
14 out of a possible 15, not bad I guess
Are you planning to start a 12 step program?

11 is pretty hopeless for someone not even technically in the biz!
I'm not on chat much and I've only been to a few meets but it was 3 points each for the rest.

ummm my name is gail, and I'm a letterhead
hehehe

My name is Kissy and I'm a letterheadaholic.
I'm not sure if I have 14 or 15, I'd have to check a map and see if Quebec is more or less than 1000 miles away.
Well I admitted it, what is step 2?

I'm in the 7 to 10 range depending on how I score a few things... but I have a problem with your set-up of #5 on this test...
quote:5 (A) Do you have "withdrawals" from not being able to do any of the above? (B) More than once. (C) Daily?
Isn't "not being able" just an excuse? Isn't it true the the more of a letterhead you are, the more your priorities would dictate that you always are able to do all of the above? wouldn't it therefore be a loss of points if someone leans on the "I wasn't able" (to check the board, log on chat, attend a meet)excuse? Sure, in this scenario, the level of withdrawl symptoms would vary proportionately to the "letterhead rating", but why withdraw? It reminds me of an old saying... Hi. I scored 12. Went to Cork...what's that...3600 miles? I think I should get an extra 10 for hosting an International too! Love- JILL
Posted by Kathy Joiner (Member # 1814) on :
Jilly, you should get thousands of points for hosting the Mars Meet.
I'm a 13. A greatful 13.
Posted by Si Allen (Member # 420) on :
Well...ahhh...ahem...looks like I maxed it!
Posted by Jeff Ogden (Member # 3184) on :
Doug...
You could have withdrawal symptoms from not being able to check the BB everyday, because you were at a letterhead meet

I wouldn't go to a meet if they held one in my front yard. Please let me explain. I developed an allergy to solvent based paints about 12 years ago which forced me to phase out hand lettering for the most part. I can't even be around the fumes. My business has taken a different path, mostly computer, digital prints, design, etc. Although I do enjoy it I think I will always consider myself an old signpainter at heart and I do like to keep in touch with what you guys are doing. I still get SignCraft. Funny thing is, on the rare occassion I do a hand layout I notice my layout ability keeps improving. I think thats because its how I see it thats important, not the tools I'm using. So I guess I'm about a 4 or 5. I went to Ireland last year. Didn't make the meet but I found the home my great-grandmother was born in, had tea with a distant cousin and saw a lot of great signs.

John, on occasions a while ago I used to wonder to myself about the times on this board when there are not many gutsy technical question & answer posts- but you only get out of something what you put into it... then Doug from Hawaii (I think it was him) put a good comment in saying he visits it often for his social 'fix' each day.
Letterheads meets are as much social too, as well as technical.
THAT'S why they're so good- isn't it!

12/15. I just got back from a meet last night that was in Myrtle Beach,SC. There was some awesome talent there. Edited, for score explanation. I never have been on chat, and Ft Myers is the farthest meet Ive been to. 12 1/2 hours one way in a truck with Ryan Young, seems like we rode 2000 miles. That ought to be Bonus Points.

Posted by Doug Allan (Member # 2247) on :
Brian, ya got a point fer showin up here today, & 3 for them overseas jaunts... so even if you don't fess up to any "withdrawls" you must have a panel or 2 for a few more points.

12/15 You are all the best.....totally "HOOKED"!
Posted by Jon Butterworth (Member # 227) on :
Judging by the scores so far, there are many in double figures ... and probably many times as more out there who haven't rated themselves yet. If you rated under 10, don't worry, there's hope for you yet. "letterheads" has no cure
This was just a "fun" poll to find out how many Heads were as hooked as me:)
Si says he maxed out at 15 on the poll. One of the most dedicated heads I have known and met in real life !!!!
BUT IT"S BONUS TIME!!!!
(A) score 5 more points for replying to this post. (B) score 5 points for hosting a meet (C) score 5 more points for attending a National (or "International" ... is that one where you have heads arrive from overseas?) Meet EVERY year for the past 5 years (D) Score 5 special points for hosting the multitude at an International Meet! That will keep Jilly happy:)
I now score 27/35, but if I go for the extra 5 for hosting an International meet I might look at a divorce hahahahaha
Gail (and Devo) High scoring? BS ... yer max out .. we all love you for it too:)
Finally, Where are you planning to spend you next Holiday?
Posted by Doug Allan (Member # 2247) on :
today is a holiday up/over here... & I'm still making signs & checkin the BB & 11:30 PM Guess there still hope fer me yet. least I hope so

I needed the extra five points, so I'm posting! LOL I scored 30.....I don't see hosting an international in my future.....
How about adding points for the most meets in one year? I'd have a 37 then.....but who's counting LOL
Joe, Makin Chips and Havin Fun!
