One of my clients is a property management firm with several high end office buildings. Today he ask me to come up with signs for each building by Friday that would recognize Rememberance Day (which is next Tuesday).

We decided to incorporate the fairly common image of a soldier from WWI I belive with his head bowed over his rifle with the butt end on the ground the words "lest we forget" and a poppy. We are also going to include a poppy donation box on each sign so tenant staff can get a poppy to wear and make a donation to the local legion.

I have just googled (when did that become a verb?) for images of the soldier and poppy. Came up with several multicolored bmp files for each. We are planing on doing a one colour siloutte of the soldier and don't have a lot of time to scan, vectorize and clean a bit challanged bmp file tomorrow.

I am hoping that one of you may already have this soldier in vector form or can point me at someone who does. If someone has it and can email it to me at itsgood@bserv.com on Thursday I will gratefully make a small donation to whatever legion post you suggest in your name.

I have a lot of interest in the plight of our veterns, both American and Canadian, and feel this is one small way that I can help raise awareness of what they did for all of us.

Thanks for your help.

Thank you Shep for taking the time and trouble to build a soldier in AI format. He is a good one with his rifle slung over his back walking through a field of crosses.

The one that we wanted was somewhat different. Head bowed, hands folded over his riflee, clothes in disarray. We ended up digitizing him from one of the bmp files I found. I have a part time employee that is a Sheridan College Computer Animation student. She was in Friday and did a lot of the graphics prep work. Probably took us 4-5 manhours in total to get what we wanted. The signs got made Friday afternoon and delivered to the property management office. The office manager was on the phone right away arranging for poppy boxes.

All in all it felt pretty good doing a little piece of sign work that will help out some vets. Plus we get paid for the signs!

If anyone comes across a similar need for a Remembrance Day Soldier I would be happy to donate this one to the cause. Would also be willing to send you the one that Shep built.
