I need to epoxy hooks for a an hdu sign and I was wondering if there is an epoxy at a home center that would work

I would order west systems but I never used it and all the product numbers confuse me I dont know what I need and Im on a budget

Gorilla Glue. It is available alot of places Home Depot, Lowes (I think) I have also seen it at A.C. Moore and Michael's craft stores.

I have gorilla glue wasnt sure if it would be good for this type of application though I was planning on drilling 2 holes in the top of the sign and put in metal hooks and filling them with some type of epoxy. the sign is approx. 3'x3' so it has some weight to it. has anyone used gorilla glue for this type of application

I'm a big fan of Gorilla Glue but would recommend epoxy instead of gorilla Glue for something like this. West system is super easy to use as it comes with metered pumps for the resin and hardener. You can get it at a boat/marine supply store.

For a small job like that you might be able to use one of the epoxies in a syringe. You squeeze the syringe and it dispenses the proper ratio of resin to hardener. You then mix them together.

Any Auto Body supply store like NAPA or CarQuest will have 2 part epoxy in a two pack, consisting of two small sqeeze tubes. The ratio is usually 1 to 1 for these so it is easy to get the ratio correct. This is a fairly samall quantity so the price is right!

One nice thing about this type of epoxy is that it is already a creamy consistency. With West Epoxy, which is an EXCELLENT product, you would have to add a filling material like microbaloons or milled fiber to get it to a creamy consistency.

When I place attachments in HDU as you are doing, I twist the drill around in the bottom of the hole so that the bottom of the hole is bigger than the top, creating a wedge shape. It may not be necessary, but I sleep better. [Dunno]

here is another idea I had
in the picture there are sign hangars attached to the outside of the sign this seems like an easy meathod though most likley custom made. does anyone know if I could buy these somewhere. I dont weld so I dobt I could make them

I use the two-part epoxy available in the hardware department at Wal-Mart. Around $3 I think. It is in a clear tube and when you push the syringe it puts out both parts at once, no measuring required. Mix up with a popsicle stick and put in place. But I'm no expert!!
