Just a quick reminder that the Texas Letterhead gathering is still on for this weekend (Nov. 7-8) here in Temple, Texas.
We have actually shoveled out a bunch of the junk and you can see the floor in places.
One-Shot has sent some paint, Precision Board donated some HDU, and Ron Percell graciously sent some lettering brushes. We are all set to go.
The coffee will be on Friday morning. Come and enjoy a few days with people who speak your language.
Fred Self is driving down from OKC, Roy Frisby is coming from Arkansas (he paints with the wrong hand, but still is welcome), Ray Skaines is driving up from League City, and lots of folks from the Austin area. Theresa Dringenberg is a scenic artist who does signs for movies, Disney, Six Flags, and the theatre - she will be here with lots of techniques of painting for the movies...and not just signs, but sets, etc.
Some are old and some are young. All the way from beginners to old timers. There will be a place for you. Grab your kit, your portfolio, and join us. The weather is predicted to be in the 70's, so we should be comfortable.
And it's free.

Hey Raymond...sounds like you guys and gals are gonna have a helluva good time this weekend. Sorry I won't be there, but happy to see Letterheads gettin back to its roots! Think a little bit rubbed off in Gainesville a couple weeks ago already.

I wish we had known about this before we made plans for the SEMA show, we would have definitely been there! It's not often we have a letterhead event that close to home, so it really bites that we are going to out of town this weekend. I hope our no show won't affect your decision to attend our event in January! If you drop us your address, I will send you out a flyer if you have any interest. Good luck this weekend, hope you guys have a great time!

Not only do I want to come to the meet, but I need to. Looks like I'm gonna have to pass this one. (she types as tears well up in her eyes)
My back won't take the drive alone and my meet partner, Vickie has deserted me for a bunch of cute 2 year olds. She is working at a daycare now.
Yall have fun.

WE WILL BE THERE! Excited about the scenic instruction as we plan to go after some mural work and I just bet it will translate. Looking forward to good fellowship and meeting new friends. Can't wait.
Til later, Sue and Bro. Steve

We'd love to be at this meet too. It has all the ingredients for a very special gathering. This is what Letterheads is all about.
Those heading for Ray's shop are urged to take along a camera. Let your lens tell the story of this meet. Look for opportunities to capture closeups of the people. Don't forget the new faces.

Thanks Raymond for putting this on!!! I'll be there about 10:30 or so. I'm a custom bike painter and airbrusher out of Austin. I have no idea about brushes with hair on them. I'm also bringing a freind who paints race bikes and does a lot of vinyl work. The guy has a 36" Roland in one of his bedrooms.
Can't wait and we'll see ya there.
Thanks Again Raymond!! DaveK

I was at Raymond’s original Lone Star Letterheads 20 years ago. The following is the gist of a message I recently sent Raymond.
November 7 & 8 has been marked on my calendar for a couple of months now. Our first grandchild was due Monday. So far, David Alejandro Peña (our grandson to be) hasn't cooperated with our trip plans. If he arrives by Thursday, we'll be there. If he hasn't come by Friday, they will take him C-section, in which case, I probably will not be able to make it.
I sure hope he comes the natural way before the workshop. That way, I'll be able to use my 200 picture fold out grandson photo gallery to change the subject and thereby deflect criticism of my hand lettering (littering ???) skills.
