Very cool, Deb. My middle boy was in the Army Guard and got out about a year ago. He spent 9 mos. in Germany. We were thankful he didn't go to the Middle East, but we think about those folks whose kids have gone, and our hearts go out to them. Nancy and Dan Bennett's daughter was in Quatar and we have friends whose son is in the special forces and they are allowed no contact with him whatsoever.
On a lighter note, when I was a project leader at the 1st walldog event at Kenlake, Kentucky, they gave us a tour of Kentucky Lake. The guy navigating the boat thought we might want to see this abandoned quarry on one of the lake's inlets. The quarry was surrounded by rocks that were graffittied. Obviously this was a place for lovers to leave their signatures. The meet was sometime in the middle 90's and there were signatures spray painted on the rock going back to the 70's. I can't imagine someone spraying "Joannie loves Chacchy , 1978" would have taken the time to clean and prep that rock, do you? It's not fair when you can spray over a dirty, spider and moss covered rock and do it on a whim and then have it hold up for 20 years when I am standing on my head prepping, priming, sanding, triple coating - whatever - trying to get something to hold up for 10 years. Maybe it's the rock itself that's the secret. Think about it. If the rock's already there it doesn't need to be installed. If it settles a little - OH WELL! I'm going to to have to give this lettering on rocks thing another look.
