After talking about a different shop for about five years, we've finally made the plunge! We've looked at acreages, empty lots, old buildings etc etc.
I'm currently working out of my basement office (200 sq ft) and my single car garage (315 sq ft), but have enjoyed the tax and expense benefits of a home based business.
We get posession of our new digs at the end of November. It is a 60's bungalow with an attached office (entrance from the outside, no more coming in my house) Attached to the office (322 sq ft) is an 1100 sq foot heated garage, complete with plumbing and its own furnace. It has a regular overhead door, and a larger door (they kept an ambulance there).
We are doing major renovations to the house, new cupboards, flooring, bathrooms, fireplace etc. We can renovate this house for about the same price as building a shop, but will still enjoy the benefits of all the home-based write-offs.
We are both pretty excited, and are looking forward to some late nights renovating. Anyone want to come and help?

With more room you will be able to turn out more work and the mortgage payments will be easier. The entire Letterhead community is happy for you and your husband.

Wow, all your positive replies have made me feel alot better about making the decision. Thank you!
I would love to have a meet someday! Don't know how many would want to venture to Southern Sask, but any one of you are welcome anytime!!!
Mike, getting a panel from you would be worth the drive to Mazeppa! I'll do my best to make it, hopefully we will be settled by then (and if there is any $$ left!)
Lotti, yes it is the place we've been looking at for a long time. We phoned the owner when she was living there and let her know we would be interested if she was ever ready to sell. She moved to a seniors complex a year later, and her son dragged his feet for a while before putting it up for sale.
Brian, I need to practice with ALL my brushes. Thanks again for showing me that my signature brush actually does work!
Thanks again everybody.
Luv, Suelynn
