Just curious as to who'se using what, and what the most popular brand would be.

I'll ask you to state what brand vinyl you primarily use along with major secondary brand.

I use arlon primarily, and 3m reflectives.

Avery/Intermediate for short term and removal.
Everything else would be PAINT

Hope this helps

Oracal.

3M H/P all the way for signs

Oracal (intermediate) for banners only...

and never mix the two even when I'm tempted...it costs too much to correct the inefficency of intermediate vinyl.

Hey Trannie....
Vehicles & signs...Calon II HP...except for white,
only use Gerber HP.
Intermediate...Oracal 651 (on coro or poly banners) I especially like how their white has a blue backing paper.
I have had satisfaction with Avery HP & reflectives; their color choices are great. But I did get an unmarked splice once that cost me a week's waiting time. (and I only needed about 22", of course it was at the end of the roll)
I refuse to use MacTac. I have used Accucut & it ain't too shabby.
Like Pat, tho, I paint whenever possible, especially drop-shadows & outlines.
Love JILL

I use Avery A5/A6 short term and Avery cast Hi performance for Auto graphics the other type of jobs that are expected to be long term.
I have set up a blade holder and blade that is set to the right depth for each cast, calendared. This saves me a lot of time, One brand of vinyl one set of settings.

3M & Avery are my favorites...I use Permacast too (made by Duramark???)...was using Oracal a lot but have seen a lot of inconsistancy with cutting/weeding this...so I have been using more of Avery and 3M unless the job is really cost sensitive.

ORACAL for short term and interm term
ORACAL 451 for banners
ORACAL 751 and 651 for cars decoration
3M for long term.
I tried a lot types of vinyls and I think that ORACAL is the best. 3M is very good but very expensive.

Gerber/Avery for long term

My favorite slogan in this regard is:

OP,
The thing that I really like about there vinyl is that they put the same adhesive on their intermediate that they put on the HP. It is a solvent based adhesive instead of water based. Their customer service has been outstanding also. TRIMUSA 1-800-642-0959.
I am talking with Jay and Rodney about becoming Letterville merchants.

Oracal here, 651 for 90%,851 only occasionally. Vinyl is only about 15% of total work, the rest is paint.

I've only been doing vinyl for a year after a lifetime of slinging paint, and in my limited experience, I think that Avery weeds better than Oracal, so that's my preference. It could have something to do with the depth of the blade or the force, too; I'm not all that swift when it comes to that stuff....

Avery for long term...

GMI, SSK and Oracal for short term...

Coburn and crown for holographics, Signgold for gold jobs that don't want real stuff, and Avery paint mask for airbrushed lettering.
