I am making a 4' x 5' HDO carved sign. It will be installed up on a brick wall. Do I need to attach it to MDO, dibond, or aluminum?

Yes, no, maybe so. (Probably not). If it's a solid shape like a rectangle or oval, and at least 1' to 1.5" thick, you should be fine. If it's got thin parts that could break off in fabrication or transport, or if there's a liklihood of people pulling on it after it's up, then maybe yes.

Back it with a brick wall.
Joe's right, depends on the sign. A solid piece, properly mounted on a brick wall, you shouldn't have problems with warping.

Thank you everyone . I guess I will back it up since we are using 1" HDU and they are paying a nice price for it.
