I have a job for some interior 3D letters for a mall store. The deadline is quite short so I thought I'd make them myself out of gatorfoam. Has anyone had any luck using one of those rotozip drill/cutters on this type of material? I'm not sure it would work and leave a nice edge so if you've tried it let me know how it works or if there is another alternative. I'm putting the letters on a panel and installing some panels so I don't want heavy letters.

Brian it should work fine, give the tool a rest every 15 minutes and blow the dust out.
On your intial passes rough cut close to the lines on the first pass then finish cutting on a scond pass, you'll find more control.
the sides will probally need some sanding, but not much as long as you keep the tool level.
Good luck, and ont wipe your eyes much while cutting the foam.

Brian, it will work just fine !! Works well on sheetrock , too !!! Just make a paper pattern of your letters and spray adhesive on the back of the paper and stick it to the foam and cut away. Be sure to place some cheap white styrene foam under it. (cut the centers out first) I showed Amy my RotoZip 3 years ago at Pat King's Duck Soup and she looked up at me while cutting out some HDU stuff .... and said..... "you mean I can actually cut out foam letters with this thing and sell them to people for MONEY ?? " And, now look where she is today !!! Drop by Amy's Place
