I am closing a job that consist of 5' x 8' DS signfoam. I am not sure how I want to mountand install them. One installation that I have been told about is to take 2x of 1" signfoam and laminate them onto 1/2" alumalite.
I like the look of 2 wrought iron rods coming out of the sides into wooden or wrought iron posts but I don't know if I can do it with sandblasted signfoam-especially for a sign this big.

Laura, if you will check the archives, there have been some excellent posts on this topic.
Personally I would reinforce with thin Dibond. Vic G

you will certainly want to use a laminate of some kind one that. I would go for DiBond and then laminate some square aluminum framing in the middle for installation.

I had planned on laminating with alumalite but couldn't figure out how to do the wrought iron rods coming out from the sides. Will look in the archives.

I am currently finishing a d/f sign of similar dimensions - 3/4" SF3 over a 1" core of MDO.
Solid as a house, this sign will outlast most of us.

Laura, this is the post I had in mind. It isn't what you are trying to do, but maybe it will give you some ideas. Vic G
