Janette, Fall is here right NOW! Leaves turning colors, cool afternoons, cold nights, frost in the morning, animals active, fish biting, and kids at school. What more could you ask for?

Raining here this morning, but the fall colors won't be peaking for a couple of weeks anyway. Just have to tolerate "leaf peepers" by the busload for a bit and then it'll quite down around these parts. Nothing like foliage in the White Mountains.

I'm hoping against hope that it will start to cool down soon. It was 111º yesterday and it pretty much put me over the edge. It's been averaging about 106º the past couple of weeks and here I am waiting for it to cool down and it gets hotter.
It's been like this since Mid-April and there comes a time you just can't take it any more. I just put my head down on my desk yesterday and tried not to cry.
We've been waiting for my husband's company to follow through on their promise to transfer us out of here for over a year now and there's still no word. We finally decided that if we don't hear something soon that we may have to start looking for something else. Anyone know of an opening for an Executive Chef in Northern California?

There's a nip in the air here, only 105 today.. Hey, compared to 125, 105 feels cool! There's a definite chill when getting out of the lake and the water temp has dropped into the 70's (it gets into the 90's in August).
I've been craving "Fall Foods".. Soups, Chilis, Fresh apples, caramel apples, candy apples, and apple pie, and Halloween candy but I've been resisting the temptation.

last week i was in the mountains of southwestern pa. wed nite we built a fire in the wood stove, was mid 50's. some leaves are turnin there already but no frost to date. here in pcola, the windows are open in the evening, mid 60's days 78-80. one of the reasones we came north. sarasota is nice....and no seasons.

Y'all are sick....I guess I am the only one who dives into sadness for the next few months. I hate snow, winter, shoveling, cold feet, slow buisness, not having full control of my truck because of ice. It's just too painful. But I will say that Michigan summers almost make it worth while to endure the winter. We normally do not have to endure the extremes of heat some of you speak of. If we did, I may feel like you and welcome the cold.

Rick...You are NOT alone! I hate winter too. And fall is just the beginning of winter.
Fortunately it is still warm enough to wear shorts and sandles and I won't give them up till it snows!!

sick i am...i love snow! it's a beautiful fall day! it rained hard yesterday so the brook is all white water making the lovely soothing running water sound. some of the trees are starting to turn...it will be brilliant in a few weeks. the only thing i don't care for with the seaon change is the shorter days....i'm not a big fan of darkness at 4:30pm...that comes in november. happy day everyone!

Dave: I love the way you think. I have given up the shorts for the "winter professional look" but this was the first year I ever got tan lines around my socks! TMI, I know, but it puts a song in my heart
Karyn: I had hope for you. But, I suppose the snowmobile industry would die without people like you. To date, I have never made money on a snowmobiler...makes you wonder.

rick...i don't make any $ off snowmobilers either. actually our valley is not snowmobile friendly at all. they cater to more of the downhill and x-c skiers, ice climbers, shoppers...there really aren't alot of connector trails for the sleds around here...have to drive about an hour north...then it's great for them. i do however make $ off the 3 major ski areas that are minutes from my house...i've even become a snowborder in the last 10 years...it's so much more comfy than fartin around with ski boots and poles. i actually own a snowmobile but haven't really gone sledding much other than on the property.

Been hot here. Starting to see some whales passing by heading south. The woodshed isn't filled, the field isn't mowed, the canning isn't done, and the days are getting shorter. Come evening and I just want to walk on the beach and awe and google over the sunsets. Please....hold off winter for a few months.

Not an autumn/winter fan this side of the pond either, to duplicate winter in the UK sit in your shower with it on cold, paint the wall opposite a nice dark grey and sit there and look at it until April

Our weather is totally unpredictable. It can be ccccold one day and abit too warm for comfort the next.
We're currently having an awesome stretch of sun and warmth. So much so, if this cold/flu of mine bites the dust soon, we'd like to go camping again this weekend!
Our grapevines have never done better. It must be due to our very dry summer we've had. Everyone comments it smells like a winery at our place as you walk towards the back door.
The gated entry to our driveway shows signs of the ivy changing to a brilliant red. People actually stop their vehicles on the road when it's on fire.
Wasp nests galore this time of year! When I was in Nanaimo, hubby called to get one taken down that is under the house... it was so large it was classified as very dangerous and do NOT go under the house anytime soon. Cody is addicted to any bee of any kind, so I ensure to keep plenty of icecubes ready in case the inevitable happens.
Our seasons here are mild no matter what time of year, so a change is nice. It's going to rain anyway, may as well have some different perks to add dimention to the wet stuff.
I'm also not quite ready for darkness at 4:30. We're too outdoorsy for that one.
