Yes Glenn... We should all be saying a special prayer for Fred Floyd. Wilmington seems to be right in line for a direct hit.

Winds are down from 125mph yesterday to 105mph today. Hopefully it will keep dying out and do minimal damage.
Even people here in Delaware/Maryland area are preparing. The plywood at HomeDepot is flying off the shelves. But then again people around here panic about everything.

I never worry about hurricanes. I rode out Andrew ( I had to, I was a fire dept dispatcher). Only thing I worry about is if they spawn tornadoes, I live in a real strong house, but tornadoes can kick any house's ass.

I don't pay too much attention to the predictions, they don't really know, it's all just an educated guess where it's heading.

I would ride just about any hurricane out, but my wife doesn't think that way [Smile]

Gives us a reason to visit our freinds in Crossett Arkansas, that's where we went for the last one that hit here. But then after getting there, they tell us a lot of tornadoes spring up there and the storm was coming up from Louisiana through Arkansas!

my Dad lives in Wilmington and i (and my family) was planning to leave here Thurs night to stay with him this weekend. looks like saturday may be better travel day. carolina folks know all about how to prepare for large storms like this. mid-atlantic (VA-PA) looks more in the direct line now. sometimes it takes a great force of nature to remind everyone of where we all stand in the grand scheme of things. everyone stay safe.

Glen, do you have your insurance paid up? Must be about time for some new equipment! I hope you are high and dry through this one. You and all the other folks will be in our prayers.

Let's just pray that as she heads into cooler waters she will continue to weaken. If you are in harm's way..TAKE IT SERIOUSLY... She is big and even if she weakens considerably she will bring lots of water inland with her.

God bless & take of you and yours.

hehehe.....Yep! The insurance is all paid up. The sad thing is that if something did happen, the insurance is part of a federal program and they pro-rate the heck out of everything. The even pro-rate the insulation in the walls.

Out of last year's flood, they only covered about 65% of the damage. Meanwhile, we are still making payments on everything we lost back in 1999 when Floyd hit.

I think we are going to do better this time around though. After last year's flood, the city spent a tremendous amount of time and money on our waterway systems. Someone even had the smart idea of setting things up so that any overflow is directed to the property involved in buyouts after Floyd. At least now the water has somewhere to go if it needs to. (thankfully)

All I know is that if we flood again (which wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing), I'm shutting this place down and filing bankruptcy. The banks and insurance companies can have it.

I'll just open up a new place under a new name and not have any of the debt to contend with. Heaven knows, I'll certainly be able to pocket a lot more money.
