I really wish we were headed back to Volcano and up the hill to Jackie's home in Daffodil Hill. Hang onto your seat if Jackie's at the wheel!
I'll try and post some photos from our trip here as soon as I get some other jobs finished.
Posted by Jackie B (Member # 186) on :
Hey Steve - the "Shaggin' Wagon" actually bit the dust. So sad, I've actually got a vehicle that makes it up the hill without having to start out going 60 miles per hour around the hairpins! If anyone wants a real thrill ride, just ask me to drive you up and down Charleston - LOL. I'll never forget the look on Steve's face, as well has the huge intakes of breath!!
The Meet - anyone interested, please e-mail me at jackie@volcano.net and I'll send along directions. I've got a list going and will be snail mailing stuff real soon. Feel free to call me at 209-296-6868. I'll need a final head count no later than 9/19. Come meet Mike Meyer in Volcano. Bomba-Dear jackie@volcano.net

BTW, thank you for the directions Jackie, I'm really considering stopping in for a visit on my way to my destination. I'll be driving my Tormentor, need to put miles on it.
Posted by Jackie B (Member # 186) on :
Joey - I'd love to see you here!! Now, what's a Tormentor? And can we drive it up & down Charleston? (about an 80% grade, all hairpin turns). Bomba-Dear

Jackie=will I need a Helmet? I have an old Roler Derby helmet, I think I'll bring it! Can you find me some 1950 Studebakers, with California Winters on them?
If you show up at this Meet, you will receive a free gift from me, and you can use it for a 10% discount at my International Meet in 2005 here in Mazeppa! What is it? Come and find out!!
Posted by Jackie B (Member # 186) on :
P.S. - You don't have to drive up Charleston to get here. Just some nice meandering mountain roads. Just didn't want to scare the faint of heart away! Bomba-Dear By the way, Mike Pulskamp, I have a treat for you two! Some Wisconsin airbrush t-shirt artists are making the long trek out here - Rat Fink lives!
Posted by The Moon (Member # 452) on :
What do you mean scarey roads and fast driving? Isn't that they way we are SUPOSSED to drive out here in the foothills and the lower range mountains??? LOL
Maybe THAT'S why only the kids will ride with me when we have softball practice out at Coloma. The roads are GREAT all around here in California! LOL And if you ride a bike they are amazingly FUN! (I hear... Heath is still trying to get my a$$ on one of those things. ha ha ha)
I'll be there! Joey You GOTTA show up! I have been dying to meet my favorite smarta$$ on this site! Well, next to Gavin you are my favorite. LOL
See ya all there!

(Is there anything you want me to bring?)
Posted by Jackie B (Member # 186) on :
Hey Stef - sooo glad you're coming!! Miss you!
Richard - ditto! No need to bring anything. Just yourselves and something comfortable to sleep on.
Send me your snail mail address & I'll send all the details.

I must have drifted too close to the burn pile over here... because I could have sworn I gave you my snail mail address over the phone. Hmmm? Must have been one of those techno-color dreams again where everything seems so fricken real.
My P.O. box is 1527, Pollock Pines, CA 95726
See you there!

A few things we discovered about on our trip to Volcano.
1. Wonderful hosts! Jackie and her Family are the best!
2. Luxury digs. Checkout the hot tub just outside our room.
3. Meeting Rosie. The official Volcano Welcome Committee.
4. Trying to pickup chicks at the village store.
5. Touring local tourist traps like the famous "Shoe Tree."
6. Spooky caves where Masons used to gather. Watch out for rattlesnakes!
7. Very attractive new pals like Steph! hubba hubba
8. Cool bikes and rods gather on the main street.

Ok I give up where the heck is Volcano Cal? How do I get there from Los Angeles? Bob
Posted by mike meyer (Member # 542) on :
Bring something for me to buy from you Bob!
Posted by Jackie B (Member # 186) on :
Barb - I just gotta laugh - you make it sound sooo glamorous!
Bob - Volcano is not on any map (except locally) because we tout a whopping population of 85 (there's actually about 1200 mountain folk like me that live above the town. We're not included as "Pop."). One can actually find us on MapQuest or on MSN Maps. Put in your address, then try putting in 51 Hanford St., Sutter Creek, 95685 as your destination. That's Zinfandels Restaurant, right where you turn to come up to my place. After that's done (finding your way up California), the try beginning destination of 51 Hanford St., Sutter Creek, CA 95685, and destination of 19490 Mella Dr., Volcano, CA 95689.
This should help all of you out with finding the place.
OOps - on the maps, the road says Shake Ridge. Shake Ridge starts out as Gopher Flat in Sutter Creek, then turns into Shake Ridge.
So Bob - does this mean you're coming up here? The more the merrier!!
By the way, anyone travelling from afar to get here is more than welcome to stay a few extra days. Hubby's taking some vacation time and can give you "the tour", while I will be hard at work. But watch out, we'll put you to work setting up & tearing down, which should take all of 2 hours . . he he. Bomba-Dear

Hey Jackie!
After seeing Rosie, I just about fell off my chair! Why? Because we have Rosie's twin sister here on the streets of Mazeppa! No kidding! I will get a picture with her and have steve post it! I'll try and have her fly along with us! The experience of what will come thru the door next is my ultimate goal! I love it and I know I will Love Volcano!
After I make Volcano Jackie, YOU have to come to Mazeppa! The International is here in 2005...now you have plenty of time to get ready....ask Steve and Barb....they had a blast here!
Looking forward to it! Thanks for posting the pics!

Hey Jackie~ Sounds like a great "excuse" for US to Team Up and BE the "California Girls Go To Mezzapa" in 2005.
The so that's what my real hair color looks like side of the Moon
(P.S. So SORRY for putting you ON the SPOT posting this brand new idea ON the BB, but you know ME... I'm not sorry. he he he I think it's a GREAT idea and I won't take No for an answer. WE ARE GOING TO DISNEYLAND oops! I mean MEZZAPA! Start saving your pennies girl!)
Posted by The Moon (Member # 452) on :
P.S.S. Sorry Mike, you don't mind if I invite myself to your gig do you? LOL
Posted by mike meyer (Member # 542) on :
Please do Steph! You are welcome! Bring your friends!

The Moon & The Bomb in Mezappa - Sounds like a plan!! I've got pennies stackin' up in the jar.
Ahhh . . . Rosie. Rosie was born & raised in Volcano. She's almost 70 years old, with the mind of an 11 year old. She's the Official Town Greeter - she says hello and waves to everyone. She also stands at the school bus stop every morning to make sure all the children get on the bus. She give's the littl'uns quarters for candy at the General Store. She is a true jewel!! When her birthday comes around, the Town Hall is bursting with people from everywhere to wish her well. She may be simple, but she's one of the finest people I know!!
There's lot's of history here, lot's of great places to visit, and lot's of great people. I really feel blessed living in this part of California - a small burg untouched by the outside world.
Bomba-Dear By the way, if you're coming up here, bring a shoe!!

A few things...
My wife and I live in Sacramento, Bit more than an hour from Volcano, and we have a spare bedroom if anybody wants it.
I think that is the weekend of the "BIG CRUSH" in Amador County, that is the weekend that all the wineries have a kind of open house. Some great wine in that regon. only a few miles from Volcano. I know a winery that has a giant weinerdog head that needs glass work. Its like 15 feet tall! Came from a greasy spoon cafe in the bay area.(?)
I wanna go to Mazeppa!
Lastly, Mike, I have a friend in Sacto who happens to have some of those ugly old cars, and he wants to sell them. '59 2 door hardtop w/259, '61 4 door Cruser w/289, '63 4 door Cruser w/ 289 '49 PU bed trailer, and a 2 car garage full of good parts. motor, trany, tons of sheet metel trim gauges, glass and whatever. He wants $10k for all.
Looking forward!!!!!

Hey! We'll have to inspect those parts and cars and trucks Mike! thanks!

There's lot's going on up here . . . The Sutter Creek Blues & Brews Festival is the very same day, Sept. 27th, but only from 5pm - 9pm. Once everyone is here, we can easily re-arrange the BBQ time if everyone wants to hit Sutter Creek for a few hours. Anyone that comes, please feel free to come early and take an hour or two to zip on down to Volcano. It's not very big (the July 4th Parade has to go around town at least twice to make it worthwhile) and you get to experience Charleston Rd - a treat in itself. Once everyone is here, we may just wing it with a schedule so everyone has time to do a tad bit of touring as well as be here for demo's. The wineries are a bit out there, but anyone spending the night might want to tour them on Sunday.
If you haven't gotten a reply e-mail from me, please give me a call at 209-296-6868. Sometimes my e-mail rejects people as "unknown" and sits in my "greymail" box for awhile.
Don't forget, send me your snail mail address & I'll send along maps.
Can't wait to meet & greet all of you. This is gonna be fun!

"Blues, Brew and Mike Meyers!" Ah man how could I pass up such a day. I'm going to give it my best shot Jackie! plus I hear Richard (the wiz) and Helen of Troy the sign paintin team, The shinin' Moon, now if that wild and crazy man Joey aka: hassle fiassco is coming down, where's Crazy Jack? I'll be there. I might bring along a couple of friends to help with the BBQ if that's ok?? and if anybody wants, I'll bring my salsa maker and the secret incredients to make my "famous tacos" just don't expect me to make any straight outlines after a few blues I mean brews Hope to make and see you all there, and anyone else I haven't met. Oh yeah now about this shoe tree, can I exchange a pair for a pair??

I'll be the designated driver so go ahead Cisco! Go for it! Can't wait to meet you all...I'm not worthy!!!
Posted by Jackie B (Member # 186) on :
Hey Cisco !!! Yep - Crazy Jack will be here along with a friend of his, Teri Mundt of Sun Sign Company. The list is growing & growing. Some from L.A. have shown some interest & I really do hope they will come up. All we need is Si Allen!! Si? Two from Wisconsin are coming out! Cisco - I may put you in charge of breakfast on Sunday - Salsa Breakfast Burritos? I'll make the coffee & tea. My hubby is also a designated driver and my beautiful 16 year old daughter has her drivers permit. Between Mike & Gary & Jenny & her friend Megan, we've got you all covered.
Bringing back some great memories past, Crazy Jack & Vic met at my home when Barb & Steve were here (The great Turkey feed), and started a business together. Who knows what will happen this time.
Also, CDF (California Dept. of Forestry) has given me permission to have a bonfire in the backyard. All those camping out will be able to stay warm! (bring marshmellows?) This is quite an accomplishment, as ALL burning has been suspended since May. For those that smoke, please, please, please, use your car ashtrays. This is timber country and very dry right now.
Since I'm part of the local volunteer fire dept., I often ask the volunteer firemen over for dinner. They deserve alot of credit for all the things they do. So, you may see a few firemen lurking about. I figure if I'm feeding a crowd, I might as well toss on some more for the volunteers that save lives. (Besides, if I'm gonna have a fire, well . . . . )
Barb - remind me never to wear those darned tights again!!! Yech! Now, wouldn't it be great if you & Steve could come out? Sorry, but your bedroom has already been reserved. But I know I could find you a comfortable spot!!!
See you soon!! Bomba-Dear

Well, I am going to try to make it out there as well... My wife and I are in Sacramento so it's not that long of a trip, plus I'll get to meet some of you "old" guys... hehehe
I'll try to get my dad to join us as well (he's had his own shop in town for about 25 yrs)... I believe he knows Crazy Jack from back in the day (maybe from House of Signs?)
we'll see! should be fun...
anyone going to Harvest Moon in Sacramento in October? I'll be doing a demo there of the accudome product.

Unless someone takes me serious when I say, "Shoot me, right here!" as I point to the spot on my forhead where my migraine of the month started... I'll be there (Harvest Moon) too!
I always feel a special "bond" with that particular meet... of course I think it's just another example of one of those "All About ME!" moments I tend to have... I'm TOLD! Ha ha ha ha

Jackie, What should we bring, and when should we bring it? I can't tell you how much I am looking forward to this weekend!
Posted by Jackie B (Member # 186) on :
Hey Mike - no need to bring anything. Just got back from the store & we got all we need, and then some. We'll pick up a keg on Sat. morning and I'm already brewing up some of Meyer's favorite Earl Grey Tea. There will be food all day, a jaunt to the Blues & Brews Fest and a great BBQ at twilight. A demo is in store for you, and you just might be able to pitch in on a project. (There will be a donation bucket lying around somewhere, but it's stictly optional). It starts whenever you get here. 10am? Cisco may be here Friday. All we need is all you great Letterheads!!
(It's gettin' chilly at night, so maybe bring a warm coat.)
Got a nice crowd coming . .

Hi Jackie, nope can't make it today, but Saturday, I'll be there. I have a tent so reserve me a shady spot. Is the famous wet gang...Richard and Helen going to be there?
Posted by Jackie B (Member # 186) on :
Hey Cisco - yes, Richard & the delightful Helen will be here. Richard will do his "Wet on Wet" technique.
I got just the spot for you!

The lovely Helen can't make it. Her 19 year old son enlisted, and is leaving for Ft. Benning, Ga. So she wants to spend as much time with him before he goes.
I'll be leaving early saturday. Looking foward to it.

Hi Jackie, well we'll be leaving soon this morning, I'm taking an ole sign paintin partner with me who painted a few big signs and billboards, her name is Melody. She feels a little awkard about going because she doesn't know anyone over there, but I told her not to worry, everyone at Jackie's is cooooooool as the breeze.
Also I forgot to answer you about the breakfast burritos, sure we can help. I'll make some chorizo, con papas y hevos revueltos.
I have to make a pit stop in Manteca, then well be there. See you all soon.
