Hi OP, where can I buy Print Artist? I've tried Staples and Computer stores that carry software but they don't have it. You've mentioned it before and it sounds good.

Here's a link to Print Artist for you, Dawn. You can order it online here.

Dawn, have you tried KMart? I think they're usually in the checkout line, next to the lip balm and breath mints and fingernail clippers.

Hey OP,
My wife has had Print Artist on her computer for a long time. I got into it to look around and found you can export the files in EPS. Since they are already in a vector format, it seems like a lot of work to print, scan and then vectorize the same image. You could at least save a step by exporting to EPS, enlarging it to a much larger size in Corel or any other graphics editor and then save as a TIF for revectorizing. If I am not mistaken, I was also able to copy the image to the clipboard and then paste it into one of many programs.

I found the clip art in the collection to be good idea starters, but much too crude to get me excited about using much of it. It works great for those little church flyers and bullitens, birthday announcements and so forth. With those comments said, I think it is a GREAT value for the price. I never wanted to load it on my main computers because it dumps a lot of TTF fonts into the system and you don't have a lot of choices on whether they get loaded.

Give it a try,
Mike Jackson

hi mike... what iam making referance to is some of the PA graphics that are not in vector format. the ones that are wmf type and/or are layered. also you can COPY/PASTE right into corel, but the coloring book mode in the print menu will take out most of the lines that would make a mess when cutting. its not the best clip art in the world but i also use it for a basic begining, if i have to build or draw something that i dont have. as for the fonts you can tell it not to add them in the newer version....along with all the JPGS...

Hey OP,

Don't you cut from Corel. .wmf files import into Corel and are already vectorized too. Or maybe it's the layers thing gettin' ya.

Enough out of me. I'm going to bed! [Big Grin]

OP,
I think we have 4.5 Platinum Print Artist now. I upgraded it a couple of times and even bought a big bonus pack of jpgs and graphics for her. Since I already have many official licensed (better) fonts on the system, I didn't like having their generic fonts loaded side by side. Seems like the minimum install left a bunch off the last time I loaded it on a new computer.

Now that you throw in the bitmap images, your post makes more sense regarding going to a printer. I'd still send the images to Photoshop or Photopaint if possible and save as a Tif file from there instead of printing and scanning. I don't remember trying that scenario, so there might be a snag getting large enough images out to the other program.

Take care,
Mike Jackson

A lot of the WMF's that I get from these inexpensive clipart programs are hidious. They look as if they were a trace of a low-res JPG. The curves have that familar stair-step look. The curves aren't smooth at all.

Is Print Artist any better?

no glenn...thats why i say do the coloring book print. if you copy/paste one of these layered drawings, when i say layered i mean that its pieces laying on top of one another to make a drawing...when you paste it in corel and take away all the color it has lines on top of lines... but the coloring book thing in the print menu eliminates all the cross over points..
