Thanks to all who participated in the design contest. The winner is(drum roll please) Darrell Giese from Houston TX. [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] It was a tough decision because there were some great designs. (14 in all) [Applause] I just want to thank each one of you for your effort. [Thanks]

Thats cool Cynthia! Glad so many could help you
out. Any chance we could see the designs? It would
be a great learning experience for all of us.

Congrats Darrell. A worthy design if I say so myself! After looking at them all I would have picked yours too [Smile]

Where can I see the designs? I am having the same dilema too. I am stuck on getting a design for a sand blasted sign and the customer insists on his logo being in it. The logo is simple enough but I am having a brain freeze as to how to incorporate it into the sign. Maybe I'll have a contest next. [Dunno]

David's link is not necessarily "the entries" but a spin off thread about raising some letterhead spirit to fill in where some of the contest responses were lacking. There were other designs submitted directly behind the scenes too, like Stephens, that I would like to see as well.

I guess I'll have to admit that I'm not very proud of mine, but as a preliminary concept sketch, it did serve it's intended purpose of encouraging more letterhead involvement above board where we can see some more of the "share the knowledge" spirit around here.

And as a not completely unexpected bonus, I can say I learned a lot by seeing the work others submitted. Looking at the portfolio is always fun, but seeing a short list of actual client design criteria, then seeing the many ways different artists work within that criteria offered some valuable insight.

I would like to thank the Academy
and my wife for this...

Seriously.
I have stayed away from this site
and lurked when I did visit due to
the just type of reception Cynthia got.
I got pretty hot and determined to stay away
when I saw her gettin' smacked around.

Doug's response pretty much turned the tide for me.
I enjoyed whippin' out the design and
I picked a trick or two from all the other entries.
I also learned to (again) to calm down and not go off.

I am totally slammed at the shop this week
but I got a nice warm fuzzy, not to mention cash
from the whole ordeal in return for a little time.

I really enjoyd talkin' to Cynthia yesterday.
Very neat lady.
I imagine ther are a bunch of us
that have kept pretty quiet in fear of rejection
or in my case of lettin' my temper get me into trouble.

Anyway, I am outta lurk from now on.
Gotta run, I got some art to finish.

Good on ya, Darrell. A friend of mine always says
"Don't let the B*st*rds get you down". Glad you
found a reason to hang around.

Laura, why don't you post what you have on the design forum. You might get some good ideas to tweak what you already have.

Suelynn
