I just got in and checked my messages and unfortunately Don had called to tell me his mother passed on yesterday 9-4-2003.
Please continue to keep the family in your prayers

Sorry to hear that. You know, in every picture I see of Don, he's always smiling. That tells me he's just a gentle loving person. It takes a great mom to make people like that. I never knew her, but to meet Don is probably just like meeting her. I think she did a good job.

Don, I always hate to things of this sort. Just don't rightly know what to say, but know in your heart of hearts that today your Mom is in a better place. My heart and prayers go out to and for you and yours. May the Great Creator give you His peace and love at this your time of need. fastfred

Dave, Thanks for posting it. I called and gave it to Jane and as I did that I was typing it in but when I hit submit it said "server not found".
Sometimes it does that.

Thanks to everyone for your kind words and prayers. We have been making arrangements and buying Mom a new outfit today. Mom always liked new clothes.
Last Friday was Mom's 72nd birthday. We had her birthday party at our house. She had a great time, as did the rest of us. Mom has been in a nursing home for 4 months, but that night she looked better than she has in a long time. She carried her walker to the car, and never used it all night. About 2:00 the next morning she fell in the restroom, causing severe damage to her head. The doctors said she would not make it through the weekend, but Mom held on just long enough for the funeral to be this Sunday, which would have been my Dad's 78th birthday if he were still here.
Be it good or bad, my Mom did have a great influence on the way I am today. Mom passed away last night knowing that she was loved very dearly, and we let her go knowing she loved all of us just as much as we did her.
My Dad passed away 3 years ago, and Mom has never let him go. I like to think that they are together again right now. (Probably looking down here and saying something like,"Well, we did a pretty good job with the first three, but it's a good thing we stopped at four.") I am the fourth, and Mom always taught us to try to find a little humor in everything. She liked to say,"No matter how bad your life seems right now, I can find someone in yelling distance that has more problems than you, so raise your head back up, put your smile back on, and get out there and make tomorrow better."
Mom will be missed, but we will raise our heads back up, put our smiles back on, and get out there and try to make tomorrow better with the help of our truly great friends.
Thank you all for being part of my circle of friends, and a major part of my support right now.

Don,
Your mom's words make me smile. She reminds me a lot of my mom, who never misses a chance to boot me back to my senses whenever she catches me in a self-pity party.
Thru my life, she's been my rock.
My heart goes out to you and your family. Nettie

Don, I too am sorry to hear about your Mom.
I just got back from CA where I visited with my Mom (78) who is in Hospice.
I can't imagine the thought of her leaving, but I know that it will be too soon.
Lord bless you and your family.
Adrienne

Don, I am so sorry you lost your Mom, but felt good at reading your post about her birthday party.
You are blessed in that you are surrounded by love in your home with Dora and the kids. You'll make it through this in good fashion.
