Try right click on then in Explorer and rename them or go to properties and type in another name

get Tweak UI. do a google search and select the one for your operating system.

I am using win 98 second .When i try to rename in properties norton pops up and says virus like activity trying to write to root drive. I know i could shut down norton and try but I am worried if trying to rename the root drive would cause proplems with the drive sure hate to loose info on the hard drive. Thanks for the info about tweak but i think it would be overkill and just don't want to learn more software.Mabey i should leave well enought alone. The only problem it's causing is leting norton frag mt hard drive. gene

THUMBS PLUS needs to name the hard drive....so it can tell your c from the d.....its no big deal....go to explorer, highlight your c: go to file, hit rename.....and call it my c drive....
