My cutter was working fine yesterday, but now it is getting a "error bad positioning" message. Then after getting that message a few times I would turn it on and it would make a loud noise and say "origin error". I do not have a manual and need help please.
Thank You,
Richard, Image One

I have a CM-24 not a CX.

But to me it sounds like the pinch rollers are not aligned properly over the grit rollers underneath.

On my cutter, if the rollers are not positioned correctly I get a whole bunch of flashing lights.

Don't know if that is yer problem but it is a start.

Tried that, I tried all the basic stuff that causes the problems but I have never got an origin error before. I can't figure it out and I don't have a manual, does anybody have one for my model. Hopefully I can get this figured out, I am very busy next week.

Thanks for the reply Dave.

Richard

i have the manaul in front of me and the first message is to do with the pinch rollers. but the second is to do with exposure to strong sunlight. to quote 'the detection of the origin can be interfered with by strong sunlight ' move the machine. also i suggest you make sure the magic eye is clear of stuff.

hope this helps
i have the manual on the CD that came with the machine. it is in pdf format and so could be emailed but it might be a little big. email me if you want.

You could also try replacing the printer cord/lead. Sometimes these fail for no apparent reason, and since they are bidirectional, often a wrong or irrelevant message then gets sent back to the computer.
If you use a switchbox, try removing that and going directly to the plotter.Sometimes a frosty joint heats up with increasing resistance, and can muck things up.
Good luck!

I think it was the sunlight, its right by a window, but its always been there. It worked this morning so I hope thats all the problems I will have. Thanks so much for everyone's help.

Richard

Richard, I have the same machine, and had that same problem. It is the sunlight most likely, as it was in my case. Hope it fixes it for you.

Yep, sounds like sunlight. Cover the little eyes with some vinyl unless you actually use them.
