OK, I don't want to sound like a rabble rouser, but I was watching Monster Garage the other night and the vehicle was a police cruiser with a donut machine in it. They showed in detail the lettering being put on the doors. My question is...Who is Tom Prewitt and why is he on almost every episode? I was very disappointed after waiting for the Ranchero show that there was such a small segment dedicated to Mike's job.

He's the second rate, hack, wanna-be painter that "BOUGHT" "Damons" in Brea to feed his ego, just before Damon Richie died, from not wearing a mask wwhen the new uros came out.........

(Damon Richie painted Larry Watson's original "Grapevine" and was one of the VERY BEST Painters out there, before larry got into paint himself)

Tom would happily "PAY" jesse, just to be on TV, and most likely does...........!! Definatly in Time, Materials, if not out-an-out cash !!

Damons does "ALL" of jesse's bikes, because the real painter at Damons is a mexican kid named Louis..............who works for peanuts and gets "NO" credit for his skills.
Louis Is probably one of "The Best" custom motorcycle painters there is, and he's the only reason Damons can get the prices & work they do.....!!

Craig Fraizer, and a few others get the privilege of doing some of Jesse's other cars....and that's cool.

I won't even put this guys name in the same paragraph with Mike Lavalees'.......because Mike is the best at what he does, and this other guy is a joke.............

UNFORTUNATLY........POLITICS, is involved and Mike won't get his due, unless something radically changes in Long Beach.........!! [Frown] (hope it does, myself)

How do I know............??
Simple....I did a lot of work for Damons, in fact, lived in their shop for a couple months before coming to BF KY......
I got two of my grown daughters jobs there, one of which (Joy) still works (past 6 years..)for these clowns...........

This is what most people here "DIDN'T" know, in my reference to Mike's going down there and doing his magic on JJs stuff !!

ANY QUESTIONS.........you can call me !!

I know that most of you have been wondering what the deal is................

This is the way I see it.......

Hope this helps.............cj

Had to edit for punctuation errors only !!

I met Jesse last year in October when he and the crew came out here to test that short school bus (how appropriate) they had converted into a pontoon boat/party barge... by the way, I have pics of this thing sinking in the lake, which they didnt show on TV, if anyone wants to see them.. [Smile] ..

anyway he really is a cranky egotistical sack of crap... I met the other people in the crew too and they're all pretty cool, friendly and happy to talk about some of the details of their projects, while jesse just sat in his SUV and wouldn't talk to anyone.

As far as the paint jobs are concerned... And this comes directly from the show's producer (talked to him too) the Discovery Channel either pays painters or solicits free promotional work, just depends on the deal that's struck... it's the same deal with the trim that goes on some of the vehicles, like the air suspensions or fancy wheels - those are not paid out of the budget for the project, but are donated or loaned in turn for promotion, or paid for in full by the Discovery Channel with no option for promotion.

Hello All,
I am a newbie to the sign/graphics biz but have been in the custom bike/car painting biz for many years now. I have also been watching this site and you all are great and most helpful. As for the Jesse James thing....There's the other "team" if you will, of the father and son out east that also get the Discovery Channel exposure(I think we Know who they are). Well, I have had the "pleasure" if you will, of fixing at least 4 of their bikes already due to the paint jobs peeling off and the license bracket on one, which also holds the taillight, falling off. The welds on that one just cracked right off... But they claim they are master fabricators and so on. All of these bikes were less than a few months old only. I think it was Doug Allen that said it before, I guess there's hacks in all lines of work.
