OK gang, I need a little help. Seems the neighbor has aquired another cat, she goes through cats like I go through sox. Every damn one of them seems to like to crap in my flower bed, cept for one and that one just s**t on the grass. I realise cat crap is nasty, but whatever she feed these things makes their crap really bad [Frown]
I know somebody out there has a solution to make them not use my yard as a bathroom and please no suggestions on how to kill it.

Sprinkling moth balls around is suppost to keep skunks out. Not sure if it works on cats, but it's worth a try.

Our solution: two large dogs. No more cat crap, just large dog mounds.

Like Peter said, but remember that dogs do not fecate in their own yards. Hehehe perhaps the neighbor's yard? Sounds like fun or revenge or something like that. Call 1-800 REN-TDOG

One word..

cat-a-pult - whether you choose to fling the cats or the cat crap back at the neighbor's house is up to you.

[Smile]

I've heard that mothballs work on cats too, send your neighbor the bill for keeping you stocked up on them. [Smile]

cats are no more legal to run loose then dogs are, & they are a plain nusience when they do. Around here you can get cat traps & return caught cats to the humane society. Owner can reclaim them for a fee. Enough fees & they may get a clue where their responsibility lies. I go with the 2 big dogs approach. One neighbor lost a cat already. sad. sad truth about animals anyway, fact of life. I keep my dogs in my yard, they keep other peoples pets out, one way or the other.

when i was in maui, we stopped at some beach, i was car sick so i stayed in the car while hennie and her sister and hubby walked down to the black beach.....an the place was loaded with stray CATS.....100'S of em.....

yep, my dog actually thinned out one of them too. My wife would kill me for telling this, cause they are such friendly dogs (to people)she hates for people to know their "dark side"

I'm not sure what black sand beach it was, but I know of a few beaches with too many strays. Nowhere near 100 though.

Here's a recipe for a spray that we give out at the SPCA. It works on most wildlife, can't hurt to try it on cats. At least they won't be chewing on your plants. You do have to keep on it, especially after it rains.

DON'T even GO THERE when talking about stray cats... I get TOO MUCH of that at work... lol!!

SPCA BUNNY STAY-AWAY

1 whole Spanish onion
1 Jalapeno pepper
1 Tblsp. Cayenne pepper

Chop onion and Jalapeno pepper. Mix together with Cayenne pepper and boil in 2 qts. water. Let boil 20 minutes. Let cool. Strain water through cheesecloth into container. Put Bunny Stay-Away in a squirt bottle or garden sprayer, and spray all affected areas. Spray regularly for 2 weeks, and then repeat spray every two weeks and after rain. Non-toxic to bunnies and other animals. Safe for plants and vegetables.

George, An old sock filled with sawdust and soaked in amoninia works for a flowerbed, but a whole yard would be another chore. Perhaps you can get an pest sound amplifier that will work for a cats ear. It works well for rats and the like. Just getting them out of the habit will help. They come back to their own odor.

You could hire Dan Sawatsky to build you a mote(sp?) and draw bridge. [Dunno]

The pepper trick really works. Mixed up and sprayed or sprinkle Cayene pepper all around regularly. Cats and other animals hate it, but don't let your dogs sniff it up, though !

My folks bought a battery operated motion detector sprinkler set-up. Works very well since most critters do not like water, and/or are startled by teh sound of the sprinler. Works for most small critters and even deer, except for raccoons. They are around $50 Canadian Pesos and simply attach to your hose. You can set them to sprinkle for a specific amount of time once activated, like 1 or 5 minutes. [Wink]

We had new neighbors move in with some pesky cats. I made a sign with the red circle going over a dog. Below the following words were written in bold type.

"Warning HARMFUL TO PETS"
This lawn treated with
Hydrochloronoxid"

Never saw them again.

Set out a litter box in your garden and when it gets filled, walk over and pour the pile on the neighbors property. After a while the cats will become trained to using the litter and **** in their own damn yard.

Like Karyn said, a bb gun, or try lemon juice.
A lady at the vet office here said it worked sometimes for her. I tried it and it worked, as long as you do it every few days.
