glad I'm not in New York, NY right now, the traffic is a total mess and people are jammed up *walking* on the highways!

Mike...I am in Ontario Canada...Somewhat close to Detroit. We are also without power. This is a biggie and we probably will be without power for quite a while.

Currently on dial-up with the laptop and dial-up. Got about 3 hrs of laptop time left.

Gonna be interesting to see how long I can extend that by plugging the AC adapter into the main computer's UPS. [Confused] [Confused]

Edited part...

At least it's nice to have a power outage when the weather is perfect for BBQing!!!

Oddly enough, I'm in a rural, outlying area outside of Rochester, and we have power. No TV stations online, no cell service..my brother and folks are 45 minutes away, and have no power. (I cant even have them drive here, because with no traffic signals, its too risky)

Man, tell me again why I live in NY??
[Smile]

keep on keepin on

Never lost power at work in the city, lost at home in 'burbs.
The drive home was "interesting" ... people are idiots.
OH MY GOD, no power for a few hours on a beautiful summers day doesn't seem to me like much of a crisis ... media people are even bigger idiots.

Brian,
We don't have "seasons" named for natural disasters.
No major hurricanes, earthquakes, wildfires, floods, tornado, etc. ... just a few P I T A days here and there [Smile]

Well, makes me happy we're on hydroelectric power here with 4 different dams, a nuclear plant, and 4 coal-burning plants in the near vicinity.. we have power out the wazoo [Smile] but now Citizens Utilities has been bought up and the new owner is raising the rates 20% for the next bill... and they said de-regulation would make power pricing more competitive... hmmmmm....

It now sounds to close to reality of a "Dark Night" for a lot of people!

I hope all is alright, As we know what happened in New York in its last Black-Out (Many more Babies Born!) after the fact!

Hey we're back on line here. Lots of places around us don't have power back yet. It came back sometime during the early morning, but we lost it several times again.
We had a great time last night - sittin on the patio, had a fire, went for a midnight swim. I was the only one in the neighbourhood with a battery powered stereo.
I'm staying home today and relaxing - it's not over yet!

Love to hear all your no power stories, but please remember our position on political discussions. I'm sorry if we offended anyone removing the offending posts. Nothing personal. With the US political season gearing up, we don't want to repeat the mistakes we made in the past.
