Herb Brooks died in a car accident today. I look at his picture on the wall just down the road at "The National Hockey Center" at St. Cloud State & wonder why he bothered to bring division 1 hockey & the great rink to us here in St. Cloud. I sure am thankful he did. When my son plays there for youth hockey, I see the thrill he & the other young players get. I see that gleem in my son's eye when we go to the Husky games there. My son is only 14 & he knows who & what Herb Brooks is. He's seen the replay of the "Miracle on Ice" from 1980. My son asked me tonight, how good was that Russian team? I told him they were pros that played 365 days a year. He didn't know until tonight that we didn't have pros on our team back then. Anyway, I am by no means an expert on Herb Brooks, I'm just a sign maker & hockey fan who lives in the "State of Hockey". Thanks Herb

For sure it's a sad day for hockey.
Herb & his young Olympians made hockey fans out of millions including myself.
Keep your heads up and sticks down over there, eh Mike.
